i posted about my cruise control and my engine break not working a while back, however i am unable to find the thread. i drive a Volvo, weather this works on just volvo's or all the trucks i dont no.
i found out today that thier is a sensor built into the clutch peddle, and apprently this happens all the time, that sensor goes bad, and it wont allow your engine break or your cruise control not to work, well, untill you can get into the shop to get it fixed, you can just put your foot under the clutch peddle and lift up, and both will work. now, your foot will get really tired after 10 mins of hold up onit if you are using your cruise control, so just get a bungee cord and put on there to hold it up, but dont forget you still need to be able to press down the peddle for normeal operation of the peddle.
just thought that id share this with everyone els

The sensor should be on a bracket with slotted bold holes. To fic your problem you should be able to adjust the height of the switch.
it needs to activate at the first touch of the clutch or brake pedals. The brakes are usually an air operated sensor.

    86scotty Thanks this.

I had a 2000 Volvo that would have the same symptoms, no jake, no cruise, and also it would idle a little fast. Mine needed a TPS (throttle position sensor) that's on the back side of the gas peddle. I replaced two of them in the time I had that truck.

Yes you should wait all lights got on and off before you start your engine.
After you start...push and hold brake pedal for 3 sec to activate cruise control....it says in instructions on my sun visor.
In case your brake pedal is hanging to low put some elastic rubber around brake pedal and hookup(hang) above pedal .

Really common on the Volvos for the clutch pedal return spring to break. More than likely a new spring will fix this.

Hello everyone, I have a 99 Volvo VNL64T, and my cruise works while I drive on the highway, but when I park and need to set cruise for idle (otherwise the truck will shut off) it doesnt work, and the truck idles low. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this problem, or at least where to look?
