Arrived in Carlisle last night just before 9pm for a swap. Now I get to sit 29 hours with an empty until my next swap arrives so I can take it 240 miles, to sit the better part of tomorrow to unload at a big grocery warehouse. That sounds fair.
dennisroc Thanks this. -
^ ^ ^ That sounds like the beginning of last week for George, passport. For relaxing, it's mark on, however, for the pay check, it stinks!!! Hope your swaps work out better than projected and you are back on the road quickly.
passport220 Thanks this. -
I knew that Loves was opening soon and for those who are trying to find a spot in Punta Gorda for the Walmart DC it is only about 20 to 30 min south of the Pilot
Pete At least you are sticking with your team and not jumping on the band wagon like so many other ppl do.
And there is nothing wrong with duct taping disobedeant kids Jaso, I like the idea.
Now hear is a good idea that I just saw, Manatee county fire and EMS are sitting on the side of the road out of traffic with lights on knowing people will slow down and look to see what is going on with a sign on the truck reminding ppl school is back.
And I have spotted Dennis on TTR, actually started another thread asking for pros and cons of trucking companies. -
Thanks for the supportive message. I get a bit nutty sitting around, unpaid in this tin can.
Did George get layover pay in his situation? It bugs me to sit, paying out expenses to be on the road, staged and ready to serve one of TransAm's customers and then have to fight tooth and nail to get the lousy $50 layover pay.
How dare he!!! LOL ... He is doing through research, makes me wonder if he has too much sense for this job. -
Anybody heading through Trashville, TN will probably be able to find me at the Kenworth in a little while. My fan clutch is likely shot and the truck started overheating. Fortunately it happened a couple miles away from the TA so I limped in and here I sis waiting for road assist to get back with me.

If he has to much sense then I may not be good for the job figuring how much research I am doing. Though I have pretty much figured out the one thing about trucking that seems to be the most consistant in that it is how you make it whether you are a worker by taking the good and the bad and succed or if you are lazy and complain you will prob not go far.
And wow, good thing that any OTR driver does not usually go west past downtown Bradenton, I think I counted about 9 Bradenton PD cruisers headed west at about 60mph with lights and sirens going. -
for me the sitting as we all do sometimes isnt quite as important as maximizing your time
if your bumping your 70 all the time a break doesnt really matterwulfman75 Thanks this. -
LOL waiting on a tow truck! I am only amused because warranty covers the tow.

... Yes, having self-esteem to think your time as a driver actually does have value does not play well in this job. I agree. It is an on going argument I tend to have with TransAm, that the solution to a freight moving problem is not to have a driver sit unpaid to make a delivery at the time a customer feels it convenient to receive it.
TransAm does hire ex-felons. I have no problem with this in general, I would rather someone who has been in jail now work and contributes to the economy and society rather than sitting on the dole. However, they are used to working for $.08 or $.09 per hour making license plates or picking up trash along the highway. The fact that TransAm has to hire ex-felons, a group consider sub-standard in the trucking industry, is a sign that they can not retain drivers who have a better reputation and or skills to do something more than sit around, sometimes for days, waiting to make .30 per mile.
