Thanks. She gets that from her mom because she sure as hell didn't get it from me!
NavigatorWife, otherhalftw and Big Don Thank this. -
An hour or two is not reasonable to expect the motoring public to wait. Particularly the self centered ones who wait until the last minute to leave for work or other appointments.
You are probably not aware of the circumstances here. First off, we don't have to worry about soft shoulders, at least on Hwy 9. UDOT has built sufficient turn outs for school bus, (and picture taking tourists,) to use.
I agree that a bus rollover, is a terrible thing. I've seen two of them in my past career. One was a school bus.
And this is just what I'm talking about. Four wheelers and sometimes other drivers are careless to the point of being reckless. It is totally insane what some of these idiots do.I'm betting that big trucks are the absolute least of your worries about ignoring your signals.
AMEN to this. Kids are kids, and not only are they thoughtless about safety, their minds are on everything else, and if they DO happen to think about safety, they feel they are invincible. Now THIS is the first argument I have seen for the bus blocking traffic that makes sense. But (here anyway,) there is no reason for the bus to not use the turn outs, once the kids are aboard. The buses on this stretch of roadway, approx. 20 miles, do NOT make turns onto side roads. They pick the kids up on the two lane highway, period.Again, I don't see it as a problem, if a school bus lets traffic go buy, once the kids are loaded, or safely unloaded and away from the highway.ahab Thanks this. -
THANK GOD FOR SMALL FAVORS! Right PR?

-
Don -really -you are not waiting a hour or two,I meant bussing is over in a hour two at the most .........the entire time they are moving and turning corners ,getting out of the publics way.
-
Turn outs are ok ,they are safe ,shoulders not so much-again should grandma school bus driver be allowed to make that call?
DOT MTO says no.
stay on the road don't complicate the decision ,in fact we are not allowed to think about it.
Talk to the lawmakers.
Once the kids are loaded we get passed all the time ,if the overheads are extinguished go for it.AfterShock Thanks this. -
As far as big trucks being the least of our worries ,absolutely they are on the ball 1000% when see you they are slowing ,I can tell.
I have had on 2 occasions have a semi stopped and suddenly turn into the shoulder or roadway because he observed a 4 wheeler going to pass him,not understanding why he stopped .
Pracitly had to run the car into the ditch my kids were on the road - guy was my hero that day.AfterShock, Big Don, tangerineGT and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, --- but that was said prior to Digital photos. I'm thinkin' it's up to a million words now-a-daze, and this photo is a beautiful reminder for all of us to be extra alert, --- for the little ones as well as the big ones drivin' vehicles in their presence.
That bein' said, it's worth repeatin'.
Thanx Lili.
Thanx PackRat.
