Where are all the locations that Swift does training.
I have heard so much negative stuff about Swift that I never even checked on them.
Maybe I will check it outcan't hurt anything.

Swift is the largest carrier in the us. have terminals all over the country. If you look on their website it should list the terminals that have the schools.dennisroc Thanks this.

My California license had expired like 5 years before I started CDL training, so it was a problem. If you have a valid Indiana license, in good standing, I think you are golden.
I don't know all of Swift's training locations. I gave Swift a second look as my old, expired DL did not seem to bother them. My plan with them was to set-up a home address mailbox in Las Vegas (no income tax) and run out of Swift's Phoenix location. One positive that had me thinking about them, I had a good chance of running in the Southwest and out (mostly) of the snow.
As it all worked out, I felt I got good CDL training at Indian Hills CC and I am glad I went with TransAm instead of the Swift.dennisroc Thanks this. -
Cranky yanky, a couple of my daughters and their husbands (who live in Chesapeake, VA) went to Boston this weekend. They are die hard Red Sox fans! Just a , little FYI there.
I've got a true story for you, the kind that actually gives truckers a bad name. Yesterday, while running errands, I saw a big rig in the turn lane on highway 64, here in smallville Plymouth, NC. I figured the driver was going to turn left into the Food Lion parking lot. After coming out of a nearby store about 10 minutes later and getting on 64, I saw the truck was still there. Then I saw the driver walking across the road with a drink and small bag, then get in his truck.
He could have driven in the parking lot and parked at the back of the lot, but chose to "park" on a main, busy (somewhat) highway! Lazy, stubborn, or both? -
SRQ if you ask 20 drivers for directions you will get at least 15 different ways and that is if it is just straight down the road. Drivers are a colorful bunch and most of us are sort of defiant and that is why we differ so much in our opinions. You have been researching and you have to do what is best for you. Just make sure if you go through training with any company before you sign that contract that is what you want to do. This is in most drivers blood to do this and it looks a lot different from the outside and many do this for different reasons but the ones who last usually love it(maybe not the company they drive for but the work). The only reason I suggested you might want to get your CDL on your own is for the freedom if you do not like the carrier you first go to but you know your situation best and know what is best for you and your family.
In S. Beloit, Il. tonight with less than 330 to go. Should have plenty of hours to run home and I even got a preplan to get me home from Waterloo. Ia to Black Mountain, Nc. will have to run hard to have it there by 0600 monday but should be able to do that. I hope to get that Winston-Salem to Cheyenne on the way out of hometime as that is an awesome light load run.
Dennisroc what I wrote in the top of this post is for you too
Be safe out therewulfman75, dennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -

dennisroc, jaso36 and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
Hey Wulfman , I hear they do a lot of auto parts also. I talked with a recruiter back in Julymwhen I was in the states. She said Romulus , Michigan , Canton , Mississippi and Laredo from their home terminal in Anderson , Indiana.
who did you drive for when you went to Kokomo and where did you run from and go to after Kokomo.
I have my airplane hangared in Kokomo and that's another reason I thought about Carter Express. Anderson is just 1 hour away and they say home time every week and sometime through the week also.
They pay for Sage school you just got to stay one year , no loan or pay back.
started another thread on Carter but not much happening there yet. -
jungho if your relatives only lived across the bay on the eastern shore they would be perfect
jungHo Thanks this. -
How were the opinions biased? From what I have read on our thread we all have said basically the same thing. If you can swing a good independent school with a grant or loan that is what most would do,( trucker independence and not being beholden to anyone), if not then I think we all agreed that there were several good choices available .....including Prime and Swift, other than one location that wulfman mentioned. I don't think we put anyone else or any particular carrier down in any way. We all agreed that the choice was an individual one depending on the person's situation, that there is no such thing as a free cdl and it's just a matter of when and how you want to pay for it. Did I miss something? To me bias suggests a level of rudeness and insistence on a certain stance. I don't believe any of us displayed those characteristics. I think everyone just gave their honest opinion.....but didn't tell you what to do.gntorres61 and jaso36 Thank this.

Aha! You and Panhandle just admitted that all of those flashlights we get our drivers for Christmas do come in handy! We knew it!
