I haven't spoken with Kristi or Rob lately but I don't think the bonus is given out until after the student has been in their own truck for a while.

That's outstanding on the mpg. I received a fuel bonus while I was out with my Instructor as well. I've been spinning gears in my head about ways to keep cool without idling. I really don't want to fork out the money for a generator. I would also be worried about someone stealing it. Plus I don't want to carry around gasoline strapped to the back of my sleeper. Currently I use a 12 volt fan. I get the truck super cold before laying down, then cut the truck off. Normally last 4 to 6 hours at night. Be safe and enjoy your road trips.

    unholy7 and dennisroc Thank this.

I just looked up his and it starts at 500 at home depot. I'm sure you could find them cheaper and he keeps the gas in the side box and locks it to the frame with a heavy duty bike chain.
I'm going to look into it one I get in a truck.

I have a question. I have been invited to orientation at RBX and was wondering does their trucks idle when parked, or do they automatically shut down 5 minutes after the brake is set? Sure would appreciate any info on this subject.

You can idle all you want. They do not shut down. However there is really need to idle all the time. I only idle if I need to. Right know my fuel bonus is sitting right at 6.5 cents a mile for all miles ran. That's puts my base pay at .44 cent a mile.

Update: I was in Tyler Texas and received a work assignment to go down to Shreveport LA, pick up a load and take it to Fond Du Lac WI. Nice little trip. In Tyler I had just made it onto the interstate and was rolling down the road. Up a head there was an oversize load entering the interstate. I slowed down a bite and gave him the room he needed. After a bit I decided to pass him so I changed lanes and up front was a bridge coming up. The pilot car behind him wasn't paying attention so I stayed in my space as to allow him to move over and clear the pillars. I guess you could say I was doing the pilot operator's job. Anyway I finally pulled up beside the pilot driver and this woman was holding her cell phone texting someone. I called the Truck driver a couple of times on the C.B. but no answer. Then a female voice came over the C.B. and said he's probably not monitoring his C.B. I asked her it she was driving the pilot car for him. She made the mistake of telling me yes. I started chewing her ##### out about her job and how she is responsible for the safety of that oversized load, the driver and the rest of the people out here on the road. The C.B. went silent. Then the oversized load driver came on and told my he had to move over to the left. I told him you have plenty of room to come on over. Then I told him if his pilot car operator would stop texting, put her phone down and start paying attention we would even be having this conversation. He told my thanks and he would take care of it. There really are some stupid people in this would. Anyways, I made it up to Fond Du Lac and delivered my load. I was then going to dead head down to Milwaukee and take a load to Tulsa. It was canceled. My Fleet Manager called me and told my that I was to dead head up to Superior WI, and take that load down to Springfield MO which was good. It had more miles. I walked into the warehouse and what do I see? Nothing but Bow hunting equipment. Bow's, Bow Press', Targets. I was over whelmed. I asked the manager inside if he had any defected items. He just laughs and said no. I was ready to go shopping in there. If he would have let my go shopping in there I would have easily dropped a grand or more in that place. I guess I'll have to do like everyone else and give my money to Bass Pro. Anyway, the route going up to Superior was beautiful and very little traffic. Everything seemed to be named after either a bear or moose. I left Superior and went up through Duluth MN, jumped on I-35 headed south. Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin are extremely beautiful areas. Almost made me want to sell one of our properties and buy some hunting ground up there. In Springfield I picked up a load and took it up to ST Louis, then went into Illinois, picked up a load and took it back to the yard in Springfield. That evening after I arrived in the yard I went inside and asked if there were any loads that needed to head out early in the morning. The night dispatcher told me he only had one and it was only a 5 mile drive down the road and it had to be there by 05:30. He said he couldn't find anyone to take it. I told him I'll run it over there. Hell I'm a team player. Besides it paid 25 dollars. That's 5 dollars a mile. I'm not doing anything else in the morning anyway. After that short load I went back to the yard and picked up another load going to Indiana just south of Chicago. Then I dead headed down to New Castle IN. I picked up a 10,000 load going to Tulsa. The load wasn't ready for a couple of hours so I called my Fleet Manager and told him what was going on. He had the delivery date change to one day later. I took off heading to Tulsa which know had an any time deliver appointment on Friday. My Fleet Manager sent my a message to just bring it to the yard. That way he could keep me running. At the yard I dropped that load and picked up a load going to FT Smith AR. I'm sitting here tonight one mile from the receiver. I'm staying out running this weekend. Last week I run a little over 2900 miles and this week I'm sitting right at 2,000 miles and still have two days to drive on this pay period. Should be close to 3,000 by Saturday night if all goes well. Well that's about it. Everyone be safe.

It's going good. I'm at the terminal tonight. We're getting a load down to ga so I can get a couple days at home.

    I'm glad I signed on
