Alright so something I'm gonna post right now cause I had two new ppl ask me and one tell me that I never mentioned this but if ur curious about truck parking at truck stops around 5-8 is when they start filling up so try to stop before it gets to late or like mike-v told me he is gonna try and drive night shift cause he likes that and honestly I have done that once and with this cascadia I might try more because when I did it that one time I drove from 8pm to 10am and when I stopped at 10am it was easy to find parking and when I got up rolling again at 8pm it was simple cause lots of truck were trying to find spots and I helped another driver and told him I was leaving and he got my spot so yes it is hard to find spots after like 7 or 8 unless u go to a really big truck stop with like 175+ parking which I use pilot app and search every time I trip plan to be like I will go here instead of here because some pilots have "25" parking spots that's a 2pm parking place basically cause by 5 it might be packed but just thought I would say that because mike-v asked and I had a few others ask and even one tell me I never mentioned it so he had a hard time when he started.
mike-v Thanks this. -
There's something going on with Houston. They said that we were supposed to have all these new accounts and now drivers are sitting?

Well just called my dbl and told her still have no load that I updated my Mac 17 cause got a 34 hour reset and she sent a message then apparently saw that for some reason my new truck showed it was last in Reserve so she called dispatch and told them and they said they fixed it and I should have something within the hour
-
Then why did they tell you there were no loads yesterday? There is a lie in there somewhere.
-
Other drivers told me there wasn't because they were all waiting also not dispatch
-
It happens from time to time, I don't know for sure but I think its because of poor load balancing. It seems like when they have a lot of loads going in and out of an area they swarm the OTR drivers in but then once those loads are gone drivers sit because nothings left. It's like they have 10 loads going into Houston but only 5 coming out, so 5 drivers have to sit. Meanwhile they have another 10 loads coming in but again only 5 going out....
I'm moving to another bulk carrier and the way the terminal manager explained is they have loads going out that they relay at a point, and then the driver picks up a load coming right back. It's still considered OTR but really its more a regional out and back type of deal, which I like. Miles will be more consistent and pay is a little better. I wish Schneider was more like that because I do like the company and working here has been great and I do recomend it to anyone new to tanking. But I am moving on and looking forward to better opportunites. -
Well my dbl just talked to dispatcher and they did find me a load to Pa leaving tomorrow but they told me they have a lot of loads but they all require TWIC so she suggested since I am here in Houston to go apply for it so that's what I am gonna do cause I was gonna wait till I got home

All this is true, after about 8pm the truck stops get full up and turn into a free for all. Usually at that time I just hit the rest areas or try to find the small mom and pop truck stops that are usually out of the way and empty. Most truck stops don't really care where you park if its full as long as you aren't being obnoxious and blocking people or fire hydrants, the fuel pumps etc. Everyone involved in the trucking industry knows that parking is a premium so they tend to not get to worked up if you are parked outside the normal spots at a truck stop/rest area. Just try to avoid the on ramps/off ramps if you can, those are terrible places to try to get some sleep. I had to do it once because of a breakdown not 20 miles from the Atlanta OC, no hours to drive and not possible to get a tow before my 10 hour was up so I ended up sleeping on the shoulder of a closed rest area on ramp to 85. Sucked.

That was u??? Nah jk lol I have seen ppl do that though and some truck stops do care I was at a loves off US 78 in Ms and I was parked against the curb kinda near the fuel isle put more then out of the way for trucks to get by and everything and after an hour and a half a loves person came out and told me I couldn't park there that it was a no parking area that I needed to move first off it didn't state no parking at all and second I was there for an hour and a half already so I had like 50 minutes left on my 14 so I drove around the small lot like 4 times till a QC flashed me and I stopped then he pulled out of his spot and I backed into it so I got lucky but other then that I would have been screwed
