They charged you $45 for a printout? I have never had to pay for a printout

No the $45 was to show the doctor the printout and get the 1 year medical card. If I would of have the printout prior to taking the DOT physical then I would have been issued the 1 year medical card instead of the 3 month one and would not had to pay the extra $45 to have another DOT medical card issued. I would have just spent the initial $85 dollars on the DOT Doctor instead of having her charge me $45 dollars more the next day to show her the printout. It was a doctor at the Texas Medical Center so it was actually the Center that charged for the visit.

i also saw where someone was discussing the physical form and yes they ask about sleep disorders, i guess if you dont disclose the information they look at your physical appearance and somehow determine that you need a sleep study, like it was stated in an earlier post.....i too feel its a scam by the goverment to limit overweight drivers from working, i wonder sometimes what the physical appearance of some of the employees at the FMCSA, i feel its discrimination towards larger ppl in general....WHY NOT MAKE EVERYONE OVER THE AGE OF 30 TAKE A SLEEP STUDY, AND SEE HOW THEY LIKE BEING FORCED TO USE THIS APPARATUS TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THEIR JOBS....ok im off my soapbox ......for now........cya'll soon

Yes, you'd have to bring the machine in to be downloaded.

My machine has a slot for an SD card but I gave that to the doctor way back in 2009 and she never gave it back....I just took my machine in where they issued it to me and the downloaded the info and printed it out....I've actually had sleep apnea since 2003 and then I only weighed 195lbs and am 6'1" think it had more to do with my sleep habits in the army more than anything...I actually turned the machine back in in 2003 because I just couldn't get used to the mask...Redid the sleep study again though in 2009 when I was getting close to retiring from the army and the masks were a lot better so I use it regularly now...

My medical expired end of May. I disclosed apnea and that I was using CA regularly. I was required to take a new sleep test in order to obtain a new machine with a data recorder. The dr. accidentally gave me a 1 year card, but was supposed to deny me until I could provide 3 months of sleep data. I was lucky, because I normally would have been off work 3 or 4 months while getting a new machine and coming up with the required data. The dr. tried to revoke my medical until I got a lawyer, who set them straight. Now I'm able to continue to drive while dealing with this issue.

The doctor was suppose to give you a 3-month...That's what the doctor gave me so I could get the data even though it only took me a day to get it....If you wouldn't have gotten the data within 3 months then the doctor wouldnt have issue a new card..Also I only had to provide 30 days worth..

It took a month to find out that I actually had to get a new sleep test. I was told 2 different things by the dr, then safety told me something, then HR told me something entirely different, then dispatch actually parked me for a day while they figured out if maybe i shouldnt be driving at all. Then it took 2 months to get an appt. I'm just now getting my new CPAP 3 and a half months later. So of course I don't yet have 3 months of data. I'm right now arguing with insurance whether I get a rental or a new one as promised.
Also, the dr. who administered my test told me that for my next medical, I'll need 6 months of data, not 3.

Go to a different DOT doctor....really they just want to make sure your using it (that's what the data will show) and AHI is below 20 I think.... Takes a while to get used to but definitely use it because you do have to be in compliance.
