Driving OTR with US Xpress

    Hey Wedge, I just bought a pre-emissions truck and I'm signing on with F2F where NoCoCraig is.
    you would be better off working for percentage than mileage pay.

    if you do that and want to be on percentage let me know

    our group is percentage.... I can check to see when we have a opening for a O/O (we don't have any right now) we have about 65 trucks about 10 are O/O's


    we run under usx dot# but don't answer to usx, we have our own dispatch, load planers, csr's, and our own fright (80%).... what usx (millage base) O/O's think is good pay I call cheap,

    I will never again be dependent on someone else to dispatch me. The only time I sit is when and where I want to.

    Hey Craig, T-Bear. Hope all is well with you two. Been a while since we last crossed paths.


    I've been keeping a low profile lately. A lot going. My youngest daughter got married in February so I was pretty busy with that.


    This training is wearing me out so this student that I have will most likely be the last. At least this one can drive....lol.

    He's up to 90 + hours so it won't be too much longer.



    Flood. I didn't forget about you. I've just been.................I dunno. But that's what I am.


    Once I clear my self of this training thing I'll get back to entertaining you guys.

    How much of what their recruiters say can you believe? We had Richard Entinger speaking to our class the other day and he made it sound pretty #### good..

    i was mainly intersted in the dedicated and regional otr side and some of the finer points of those were:

    1. current average weekly pay for dedicated routes was $1100 wk

    2. both were home weekends (2 days is fine could care less if its weekend)

    3 something like 90% of the trucks were 10spd (i absolutely do not want an auto truck)

    4. tuition reimbursement was either $150 per week or month cant remember which

    5. 3 day orientation and 150hr behind the wheel before being assigned a truck to start running solo

    6. $28.00/mo to bring riders and $one time $500 to bring a dog.

    7 ability to become a trainer after one year with pay averaging $65k+

    when explaining the dedicated dollar store jobs he kind of blurred the 2 together and said both get paid miles and one gets $225(i think that was the number) per store or trailer they unload wasnt clear on which. also said it would be 3-4 stores per trailer. he said either route averaged $1100 per week.

    Our one instructor said they guy wouldnt ######## us but they were also old friends so i dunno.

    allot of those points are good selling points but i could live without them. a few things that would really matter to me are

    a. i average $700-1000 per week
    b. the home time (atleast while starting out and adjusting)
    c. the 150 hrs then being solo in a truck. i really dont want to run team or deal with others habbits

    is that even close to realistic with them?

    It is all going to be what you make it, I have been in and out with them for the last year ran two years straight with them before that. As far as i know now after your 150hrs you will have to run 8 weeks of teams, maybe you can find a way around it. As far as pay, the pay scale is going to be what kills your pay, the longer the load the less you make. Hometime, it will all depend on your fleet manger. Make sure you tell them at 8am that your up for hometime, tell them again at 5-6pm, because you will have 3-4 different fleet mangers you will deal with, one during the day, one at night, and different one in the weekends.

    They no ;onger have a sliding pay scale. They also just raised solo pay
