I drove around OZ. We had fun and the drivers were great on the East coast but inland they were a bit different and indifferent to any other vehicle, including another truck. The funniest bloke we met said when I asked the distance from Jindabyne to Merrimbula "About 2 six packs and a tinnie mate." and it was about that far.
This is how we do it in Australia

Why they do it this way in South Africa really baffles me.
5 x (+-1000hp) CAT 3412 powered 10x10 trucks where everyone else makes do with at most half that.
They maintain a good speed if you conciser that convoy weighs about 1,8 million lbs but they spend so much time waiting for pole trucks , police and utility services I don't think all the extra power makes any difference except in cost. -
Too bad I can't smoke a tinnie right now, but it's not worth risking a pee test. I really miss that area of the world. I went to New Zealand a while ago and smoked way too many tinnies. I want to go back in a couple years but want to visit Australia as well next time. Seems like an interesting place.
