@theju312.
QC has a Chicago terminal on E. 120th.st.
That will train you if you have at least 1 yr experience.
It's pretty much a regional job but home almost every dayTheJU312 Thanks this. -

I never considered qc because I was under the impression they were a owner operator only outfit. Really looking to stay local and not sleep in a truck though.

Good point ethos. If trimac offered out and back I guess I definitely would consider it. Even superior carriers for that matter. What I am trying to stay away from is out 7,6,5,4, etc and home for 34 or less. Out 2 days is my absolute max. And no, I don't have tank exp so I'm going into this blind but I keep hearing great things about trimac and superior.

Got a chance to talk to someone from trimac today and gained some knowledge on some things to be mindful of for those considering them.
From what I was told, Trimac is looking for those who will stay on with them for quite some time so your previous job history will be a factor considered when your app is in review. Job hopping and only staying with companies 6 mos here and 8 mos there will certainly be red flags. (Possible reason why many find it hard to hire on with them.)
Dry bulk is hiring currently in portage, IN and averages 950-1200 gross weekly. Dry bulk could slow down in the winter so the opportunity to cross train on chemicals will be available to those who want to do so. ( if opportunity and demand is available)
Trimac only considers those applicants for employment who are fairly close to the terminal that is hiring.
Trimac also offers flexible home time options for those who want to run regional. That must be discussed with your TM upfront though. Out and back is definitely a possibility.
Sadly, I failed to ask what the regional drivers are pulling down but I'm assuming that comes down to mileage mostly. I'm also not sure what the starting mileage is. Someone else will have to chime in on that.Sparky753 Thanks this. -
TheJU312 and harlycharly55 Thank this.

That's always a good sign when a trucking company has no current positions to fill at a specific terminal. Means guys are staying and getting treated fairly. Definitely keeping my eye out for the next opportunity to get an app in. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later.
In the mean time, I wonder if superior carriers is comparable to trimac when considering flexible home time options and dedicated runs. ( out and back, or max 2 or 3 days out ) I've read from the other drivers for superior the pay is pretty good. I also never see them advertising for drivers on indeed either. Might be tough to get on with them too.
