Brilliant. U.S. 20 looks good. Must be done with whatever they were going to do. Going on SR2 in Ohio for the first time tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't too bad.

SR2 was pretty nice, once I got past the Toledo traffic lights. 65mph most of the way, for whatever good that does us company drivers...
-
Thanks for the info. Luckily I have only 312 miles to go and all day to get my d/h there so I'm not in any rush like my last load. Yeah I hear ya on the speed limit thing. This 60mph stuff is getting old. Lol.
-
60 MPH gets old until you have an ungoverned truck and think you can haul ### with a heavy load on a hot day to get home and then blow up a trailer tire and waste 5 hours of your 14 getting it repaired. Guess what speed I drove the rest of the day at? 60 MPH. LOL.91B20H8, harlycharly55 and mickimause Thank this.

I complain about it, but I really don't mind running 60. What I DO mind is not having the cajones to get up a hill...
Time4Change and dieselfuelonly Thank this. -
Don't get me started on that lol. You could always go IC when you hit 6 months experience.
-
Got my 6 months, still feel like I could stand to drive a bit more before I make the leap. The responsibility of that truck payment still freaks me out a bit, ya know?
Time4Change Thanks this. -
I feel ya. That said the freedom of running where and when you want and a KW T680 sound really appealing. I sat in a Werner company T680 recently and all I can say is WOW. I'll have to ask Des Moines when I get back on Tues or Wed how many months experience I have. Since I spent close to 3 months on medical leave with a broken arm this winter I don't know. Also, if your dbl/oc don't want to lose you can't they make it hard for you to go choice? What about having a preventable or critical events? I had one when I first started (got the truck stuck in wet grass).mickimause Thanks this.

1. not sure about the time off, but actually, I don't think it will be a problem.
2. DBL can only make it hard on you if they have documented proof to back up what they say. Honestly, I really don't think you'll have a problem. I get the feeling that they've been told, 'unless the guy (or gal) is a total screw up, don't stand in their way.'
3. preventables.....you get 2 in a year.....critical events, also 2 (I think). I had one of each when I came over.....actually, now that I think about it, I think the clock they were working off of was a 6 month clock, not 12. So, you'd be fine.
And Mouse.....I wouldn't sweat the payment thing if I were you. First off, you can set up your escrow to deduct $100-$whatever every week if you want to set up a vacation and/or in case something happens account. Second off, if something real bad happens, they'll work with you. As long as you're willing to work, they'll work with you. And finally, if you have a good work ethic, you'll never have a problem making a payment. I had a bad week last year over Thanksgiving and they just moved my payment to the next week......didn't even discuss it or call or anything. They saw / knew I was working, and they could clearly see that I wasn't a problem....they just moved it. Nice folks, I'll say.....as long as you're willing to work.
Folks, look, they want you to be sucessful....it's in their best interest if you are. They make a crapload of money off of me and DFO and the rest. If you're willing to work, you'll be fine. And if you're gonna drive a truck for a living, this is the ONLY way to do it. IMHO. Good luck guys (and gals, as the case may be)91B20H8 and mickimause Thank this. -
Man this truck is a slug in the mountains. I screwed up by leasing a 450hp truck with a 10 speed knowing full well that I will gross 80k everywhere I go. Should have bought one from a dealer when I had the chance. ..
