Sitting at the house waiting for a load. Went to the truck at 8am expecting to see a load on my treq. Nothing. I called and spoke with Travis and he said the computers were down. Told them to call me on my cell. Still nothing. Went back to my truck at 11 am and no messages. Hard to believe a company with resources cannot have some sort of backup. Maybe they are trying to tell me something. Deuces.

It happens sometimes, George.....thankfully not very often. I never understood the dynamics of it either, it always seemed like more of a convenient excuse. I'm sure they will have you rolling out soon.

The King had 2 and a half days at home this weekend, it's the first time in over a month that he has been home for more than 24 hours. My evil plans were foiled by the weather .....104 degrees over the weekend.....I couldn't put him out on the tractor!:biggrin_2557:

We went out to dinner yesterday and Number Two Daughter tried her first raw oyster .....too bad I didn't have my phone out to capture it on video! The look on her face was priceless. :biggrin_25521:

It is a shame, from one viewpoint (money), that George doesn't have a load yet, however, if he has to wait somewhere, how nice that it's at home! From that angle, I'm not complaining (nor is he)!!!!

Yeah that would suck waiting out in the middle of nowhere. I still think he should be getting paid while waiting where ever he is if he is supposed to be driving and cannot because of waiting on the company.

George, it's not just you and TA, I'm home too waiting for a load. Like Karen said, at least it's at the house. Me? I called in, spoke with Tim and that's it. When they want me they know how to find me, in the mean time it's back in the pool with the dogs.

In a perfect world, dennisroc..... :biggrin_2557: It is one of the hardest things to adjust to.....since your pay is based on cpm instead of hours worked, it is very frustrating when you feel that you are giving away your time and not being compensated. In George's case he is considered back on duty, unless they have told him to enjoy another day at home, so that really is uncompensated time. He has to stay available but is not dispatched on anything that will make money. For the most part your time, 24 hours, is supposedly built into the cpm on a load ....is it adequate? That is a question that most drivers would answer in the negative. You learn to look at life in a different way when you are part of the trucking community.....and you learn to look at weekly averages or monthly averages, and try to achieve that balance between profit and time that you consider given away. All of that being said ....everyone knows that I am a big advocate of a minimum daily pay anytime a driver is on duty. After all, even though George is still at home he has to be available for dispatch and is still responsible for his truck and trailer. In the years the King was with TransAm I think this type of situation might have happened twice, and his DM usually made it up to him so that it balanced out...... I am sure you will find the same thing also, George.

    jungHo and jaso36 Thank this.

I should probably add that in our case, we live in an area that is close to many of TransAm's regular contracts .....Tyson, the caves, etc. It became the normal routine for the King to leave here and pick up at Tyson going to Michigan or pick up cheese in the caves going to Maine. That helped us when it was time to go back on duty.

That is something I understand but still don't agree haha , sort of like being on call :(

The site manager here in Korea told a co-worker that we had an airplane coming in the next day and he might need him to come in so don't drink any alcohol tomorrow.
My co-worker asked if he was being paid to not drink alcohol and he said no so the co-worker said I will be at the bar if you need me :)

We were all having a cookout and he figured that maybe there would be some drinking.

I realize driving a truck is going to be full of good times and bad times and after reading TTR all these months I am sure I can take the good with the bad as I have seen everyone with all sorts of complaints so I know what I am getting myself in for. I am sure there will be some days I will be saying what the heck was I thinking and a few hours later just cruising down the road with a smile on my face. :biggrin_25523:

Knocking wood did not help. Got a call to stop in Gary, IN for a swap that will turn me around and take me back to New England. A lot of plans, including picking up mail are shot. Oh well, I will be a good company man and do the best I can to move freight as needed but I am disappointed.
