That's exactly it... Ive had 2 tickets from out of state... Both tickets stated I must appear in court... Both time's I got a lawyer through the Legal Service I pay yearly ( $135 ) and both time's paid the actual ticket fine with no points placed on my license... Both times I never appeared just had the lawyer appear for me...

Good thing he wasn't a new driver because I believe the points would have tripled for him.

Sounds like a good call on the judges part.

Don't really agree about the animals though. Deer or other critters will cause damage at any speed and have the possibility of killing, esp elk or moose, like hitting a brick building, and three of them, I would say the odds were pretty well stacked. Was the accident at night or what would play into it also I think.

He seems to sound like he had an air of entitlement he thought, the laws don't apply to him, the 3 other MV tickets show proof of action.

Do you think he learned his lesson?

I think they might/probably mean flip on and off the "I clocked you and I'm turning around to get you...not really, but you better slow down" lights.

Sometimes accompanied by an exhibition of brake lights, if signaled after passing (the opposite direction).

I've seen that, never a flash of headlights.[/QUOTE]

The whole system is unnecessarily complicated. The old CDL point system was totally adequate since all states now have reciprocity. The new scoring system is a result of politicians trying to justify their existence, which is imposable in most cases.

And it's most likely he learned nothing other than another law is wrong/his freedom to drive in any manner he chooses right up until the crash is being infringed upon.

People drive habitually, that's why they call them "driving habits". The vast majority of truck drivers, if they drive a truck any differently than their 4-wheeler, it's worse.

Habits are hard to break when you try. When you don't try, it never happens. I've seen veterans lose their jobs rather than affect a change in the data emitted by their ECU.
