well, I got a call from the local sage program over in lawrenceburg (about an hour drive one way) and I head over to them on Tuesday at 1 pm to see if maybe I can do it. I have this feeling that I won't qualify for any financial aid because of my horrendous credit, so I might have to fall back on their other option they have. Agreeing to work for a company for 2 years and they pay for the sage schooling. So, anyone who has gone through sage that reads this post, what is that company? If I remember the last time that I looked into sage, it's a company based out of Missoula MT. And the only one I know of is Watkins & Shepard. If it is that company, that would be awesome as they are the starter company I want to work for.

Some think of it that way, but it's so easy to confuse it with apathy. A vote for None Of The Above sends an explicit statement that these people are not suitable for service. The rules should include provisions that anybody with a NOTA vote against him can not run again for that same office for 5 years - or two terms, whichever is longer.
Muffin-Man - Sage is separate from Watkins-Shephard. W-S contracts to SAGE for their school, though. Sage is based in.. um.. Camphill PA, as I recall, and all they are is a school. A school, as it happens, I think highly of; though I admit to a bias, as a recent grad. (Watkins & Shephard is in Missoula)
I don't think Sage has a tuition assistance program, but I could be wrong. I had to use WIA for my tuition - and it was a rather painless process, for all that it was dealing with the Gov't. Start to finish, 2 weeks.
W&S has a tuition reimbursement program, if you pay out of pocket for school. They will send you to school, but if your credit is anything like mine, it's a moot point. I doubt they'd co-sign on that. (apparently you take out a loan for the tuition, and W-S co-signs. If your credit is good enough. I didn't even bother to ask. I hate being laughed at)
I'd like to do regional, but know that even at W-S, I'd be spending time OTR until a regional slot opens up. Actually, I'd LIKE to do flatbed or tank... but the W-S flatbed division is like the regional - I have to wait. And they don't do tanks, according to the web site (I should have asked when I last talked to them) -
Lurch - According to the Sage website, they have an option to sign a contract with some company for them to pay the tuition so long as you work for them a certain amount of time. According to the one closest to me, I would have to sign a contract for 2 years, but I can't remember what the company was. But the woman said that it was a company based out of Montana. And W&S said my credit was too bad to have them put me through their training they provide up in Montana.
And from the driver I talked to before from W&S, you start out in their dry van division for the first 3 months, and then you can switch over to flatbed after that if you wanted, or stay with the dry van. And I don't believe they have tank. -

A lot of companies will pay your way through school. W&S does the co-sign thing. In either event, you have to pay it back, as it's a loan. Some companies take it back over 1 year, some over 2. I opted to get a grant (WIA) and not be beholden to anybody when I graduated.
Sounds like your credit is similar to mine.
One thing to remember is that the 3 months is a *minimum*. After that, you can move - if there is an opening.
Anyway, I may not be going right to W&S.. got a couple local jobs that look promising (one looks REALLY fun). One won't pay as much as W&S (in fact, the pay s pretty bad for a driver - but one has to start someplace). The other pays more, but it's driving tank in the mountains.. I WANT that one. If either pays off, W&S will be put on the back burner.
