Terrence90, are you leasing a truck through RRTS?
-
So you want to know about Roadrunner, are they a good company?
Let me tell you about my experience.
I was contracted to transport ½ load for them from Fla to Los Angeles for a truck load rate late on a Friday afternoon. Went and loaded the 1/2 load, pallets of melons, got loaded at 7 PM Fla. Time;;called to their dispatch and they told me they had 10 more pallets going to LA about 4 miles away. I said OK with me you are already paying me a truck load rate bring it on. Heck it took 7 more hours but I agreed to the additional freight being fair I did not ask for more money since they agreed to pay me in full after I delivered by comcheck
Well to my surprise the next morning Road Runner told me that I had to drop 4 pallets in Nogales along the way,,Pissed as I was I said OK, just wanted to end the load from heck? Got to Nogales and they unloaded the whole trailer and reloaded me with 3 stops in LA and final in Oxnard> I was not a happy trucker Road Runner would not add more money but assured me that when I was empty they would pay me with a comcheck for the full amount.
Got to LA first drop was Albersons,,second at the LA market where they rejected one pallet,,Oh My Gosh..RR told to take it to Irvine and there would be no extra money..Well I got nasty,so the second drop said he would take the tomatoes and I headed to Oxnard,,Oxnard was nice, even spoke good English, went to a local fax sent on the paper works to get paid. as agreed. Then to my amazement RR sent me a comcheck code less $500 for a comcheck fee. I said this was not the agreement and they told me got to hang up we have an other call and by the way there is a $500 comcheck fee. Being I was not stupid I cashed the Comcheck for a$4500 right away (even though it was short $500)
Then I went to a pay phone, pumped in $4.50 in quarters and called Albersons, gave them the BL number and told them the pallets of tomatoes I delivered in LA were hauled with SEVERAL PALLETS OF INFECTIOUS WASTE and hung up;;
As expected all heck ( I do not swear) broke loose. The next two days my phone rang and rang, Why would I answer; I knew RR was unhappy because I was getting revenge for screwing me out of $500.
Albertsons removed over 40,000 lbs of tomatoes from all their stores in LA.; Road Runners lost a $3 million contract with ALbertsons, My lawyer told me it was lucky to get away with what I did. I get screwed out of $500 but I got revenge with RR .
So my opinion of RR..Bunch of ##### holes/
Not long after that I shut down Giant Eagle in Pittburg over a dispute over having to pay their lumpers unload their grapes. 6 Pittsburg cops showed up ( Giant called them)and after a small talk with me the cops told Giant it was not a police issue and the cops bought me coffee. 15 other drivers cheered me.A week later I sold my reffer and bought a 3 axle RGN,, much nicer people to work with in RGN freight..
BTW this was back in 1999.
Hey Road Runner stick it up your GAZZOO. Nice when with your authority you you do not have to take crap from MORON checkers.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Yes i went to arrow truck sales. -
How is the lease they have? Do they have a balloon payment at the end? What kind of truck did you get?
-
I got 2011 prostar my balloon is 5,000 at the end. It three years at 319 weekly
-
$319 isn't bad compared to other leases. With your balloon that Prostar will cost ya about $55k.
It's not a walk away lease right?
