No they don't have wi-fi, I have a Verizon connection it costs around $60 a month, they have a basketball court which I checked out last week when we had to take the truck into the terminal. It has a laundry, games room and a cafe, which serves pretty good meals.
so good luck with the training.
The days are long when your training and you do have homework to do, which doesn't leave much time to work out.

Hey guys thinking about going to central and from the hundreads of threads Ive seen on here it looks like thats a good idea. I've attended college in MN for 2 1/4 years and then I've worked at a job making 10bucks an hour for the last year. I have a newborn child and I find myself at a crossroads in my life. I want to be able to take care of her and my fiance...thats my main goal right now. Does anyone have any advice about that and is central the best choice for me right now or is there any other school thats better. I found one in MN that told me I needed a co signer and that the loan would be 7,500 payable back at 90 bucks per month. I didnt have to stay at the company the found for me. Oh by the way it was werner but I did not hear good things about them like central. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

Before you jump into driving a truck for a living, please make sure you weight the cost, especially the cost to your time with your fiance and child. Talk this decision through with her, and realize you will be spending most of your relationship apart as an otr driver. Can you both handle this?
Yes, the money can be good, but is it worth the sacrifice? Only you can answer this.
I've been happily married for for almost 23 years, and have three kids. I've always been a driver. I started as a local, then regional, then otr, back to local/regional, and now otr again. My wife and kids have always been a huge factor, and supportive, in the type of driving I've done. The fact is that we have a very high trust in each other because we are Christians, and this has allowed me to be successful, and my family to remain intact. The point being that raising a family as an otr driver can be done. However, your fiance will need to understand that she will be the one dealing with all the problems home life will bring, WITHOUT YOU there to hold and comfort her most of the time. This takes a very strong woman! Is she?
As for what company. You live in an area filled with otr opportunities that should get you home on a regular basis. My suggestion is to look at the companies that are based in MN and WI, and see which ones have a training program. Compare and talk to the drivers. This should give you a good idea as to which company can meet your needs.
Good Luckjmfc4106 Thanks this. -
Thank you, I needed it. All kinds of crazy crap happened to me during my road test, two truckers cut me off & another ran a red light. it was a little more involved then I thought it would be, but I can sit here now & say that I...
PASSED!!!
So far, so good. I haven't seen or heard any real bad stuff on this place yet. Just remember, what might not be for you might be somebody's dream come true... There are people that even like working for Swift.
You should think long & hard before hitting the road, with a new baby on the way I'm not sure your head will be totally in the game. -
Whats the difference from going to Central than going to somewhere in MN or WI? And we have def talked about this move and are in aggrement that this is something we need. Like I said in my other post, I looked at a few schools here and they either did not finance or charged an arm and a leg. Or the companies had bad reviews like werner. I actually saw a guy at a local chicken plant here and pulled up to his truck. we talked and he told me that the 7,500 they were charging me was crazy and that central, ffe, and stevens(hell no after some of the stuff I saw on here) were cheap and good to get in the industry if I was looking for something asap. He told me to AT ALL COST stay away from CRE, swift, werner and hunt. I would really like some advice on any companies near southwest MN if you guys know any. Im not near Minneapolis or St Paul. Thanks

Midwest Coast Transport(MCT) in Sioux Falls,SD. And yes, they have a training program.

ok MCT sounds and looks good. Only question that I had about them was since they do the free tuition as they put it, what happens if I dont work for them for the full year?? Are they anything like stevens or swift?? also what kind of pay do they offer? thanks alot for all the help.....and the other school that I talked to was TCE in Egan...im reading comments on them in another blog and its not good...why does getting started seem so hard?? Ive been at this since March 10. Its may 2nd!!!
