Yea I just spoke with the recruiter at Smith Transport. He told me to get one year of experience then call back, as they do not hire recent grads. Seems like a good company to go with.

I found a day cab job overall the pay is better I have 5 months experience so try local.
Example schneider pays .29 cents a mile but if you're not driving the governed 60 mph get 60 mile a hour it's poor pay comes to 18 and some change a hour but northeast it will hardly be that speed or mileage. Flat 18.50 a hour better than that. -

BillyJack : Milage pay is important to some extent, but in reality the assessorial pays are just as important. With all my experience, I was only making .36 cpm, but with assessorial pays was making $65K per year.

Solo Pay Package (Pay package effective January 1, 2012):
- Trainee ($400 per week): Anyone with less than one year experience that meets hiring requirements
- 03 years of verifiable experience start at $.39 per mile, after one year at Tyson will go to $.40 per mile, and 2 years Tyson seniority move to top pay of $.41 per mile
- 3 years or more verifiable experience start at $.40 and after one year at Tyson go to top pay of $.41 per mile
- Top pay currently at $.41 per mile
Incentive Pay Package:
- All single trips less than 500 miles will be paid an additional $.03 per mile
- All single trips less than 250 miles will be paid an additional $.06 per mile
Home Time:
- One day off for every 6 days out on the road.
Other Pay:
- Eight paid holidays at $115.00 per holiday
- Layover Pay: $85.00 after the first 24 hours and not repositioned over 200 miles
- Unloading Pay: Tyson pays for loading and unloading. Driver may have to locate lumper and get fees approved by dispatch
- Drop and Pickup Pay: Multi drop loads/pickups are $18.00 on all pickups or drops.
- No pay for single drop or pickup
Vacation:
- 1 week after 1 year
- 2 weeks after 3 years
- 3 weeks after 10 years
- 4 weeks after 20 years
Safety Bonus:
- $.01 per mile on all paid miles in driver's safety record/miles.

- Another example is Pride Transport; in their flatbed division, tarp pay is $50.00 which is way above average for flatbed. That's part of the things you should look at; assessorial pays.
