Kona: why did you order the long wheel base? Isn't it gona hurt fuel economy with the large gap behind the cab?

That HUGE gap between the slee[er and the trailer looks like a lot of PITA dead space that just makes manuvering a hastle.

But, that's the price you pay for COOL!!! If fuel mileage or getting around easily are important to you then something as sharp as Kona's outfit is not for you. Personally, I like it, to many people worry about fuel mileage when they are pulling their .90cpm freight down the road at 55mph in a truck that looks like........................

Besides how cool it looks the ride that I bet Konas truck
offers more then makes up for not getting around as easily.

You don't need a huge wheelbase for a big sleeper. There is a guy leased to Verge Furniture Logistics with a beautiful Pete 386 with a custom 102" sleeper that has a 244" wheelbase so he can run across Canada.

If you want a company that has a bunch of big custom sleepers pulling stepdecks check out Smokey Point Distribution of Marysville, WA.

Thats pretty much it. I'm at the point where I wanted to a new truck. Now, I could get a cascadia with a lift axle, automatic, etc and drive 55 and save a ton of money on fuel. I've been so concerned with fuel mileage for so long now that I'm just tired of worrying about it. I have many years left in trucking and I'll have an aero truck again in the future, but for now I wanted something fun. The truck is not practical, it rides like a caddy with air ride but maneuvers like a container ship. It's going to be a pain but I'm now with a company that doesn't require me to load 50k lbs anymore so it's doable. I wanted to own a big pete since I was a kid and I made it happen with this truck. I have no bills, rent, family, mortgage, car payments, etc. Only truck/trailer bills...I just truck for a month or so and then go home until I decided to come back out. I'm having fun!

Good for you Kona. It's nice to hear somebody on here enjoying what they are doing. Life is short, might as well do what makes you happy.

RubyEagle, RERM and kona911 Thank this.

Nothing wrong with that. You gotta drive what makes you happy. I always figured if you wasn't in it for the glory you was in it for the wrong reasons anyways. The money is ok if you can find it.

    RubyEagle Thanks this.
