It would probably be easier to Google companies that hire student graduates that way you can look at what their qualifications are as far as criminal and driving history.

I have been doing that and looking at companies listed in this forum. They don't list that misdemeanor. It seems like swift ok'd for their academy though, but I don't see anything in particular about a ccw. Usually it is about preventable accidents, dui, speeding tickets, and felonies in general.

Make sure you get something in writing about having a job after school. I'd say Swift will give you a job if they're going to put you in school.

That's what I was thinking, but I am working full time right now and want to do a weekend trucking course. I just was not feeling the jive from those recruiters. I am not getting scared though, just cautious.

I totally understand don't just settle for any driving job if you don't have to, do plenty of research. Also, do not even bother with Carolina Cargo just read their reviews and you will understand why. Read the reviews on any company you are thinking about applying with.

See, the thing is that the insurance companies that run the trucking companies are super-skittish. Weapons misdemeanors and accidents? Bad credit? I would say don't even waste your time trying to enter this profession and absolutely don't waste your money and time trying to get a CDL. The way you write and phrase your sentences, I'm having a hard time believing you have a B.A. in English, but that's just me and my B.A. in English thinking out loud. The little voices, you know? Homies and Kentucky and not feeling the jive from the recruiters and such. It's just a vibe, you dig?

Never mind trucking. It's probably not a good fit for you. :biggrin_25513:

If the misdemeanor is at least 5-7 years old it might not be as much of an issue.

What notarized letter are you suppose to give them? Just something from you that says you were unemployed for x number of days?
