do all extendables, stretch in 5' increments?
I thought I saw one on truckpaper that would stretch out every foot , was that custom?

Depends on how they were ordered when built..

5 foot is pretty much standard. But just cut out what ever hole you want.

I saw a video ad for one that was for sale, and it stretched a foot at a time. Looked like it'd hardly been used for a 10 year old trailer.

barroll, I think you and I saw the same one. mine stretches every 5' and it would be nice to have that option
-
Our had the holes either on 18" or 24" centers.

Ours are at 18" IIRC.
5' would be a nightmare on a DD or step. No need to add another 3 or 4 feet to the length and have to get escorts etc.

Dumb question but would the integrity if the trailer be compromised if I do that ?
-
No you wont hurt the trailer. You arent drilling or welding on the rail flanges. You are drilling out a new hole for the pin to fit in. You will have to weld a small plate to where you are drilling a hole through the frame.

It cost more to order with more holes. I have added several extra stops on my DD, you have to cut a hole on both sides of the beam and weld in a piece of square tubing. I have friends that have holes every foot.
