I finally negotiated to gain a company EZ pass !
No longer will I needlessly get fuel just to pull advance cash for toll coverage! This is a good win. Meanwhile , I'm running a load to swap with another driver so he can get to chemotherapy on time.
Spent the weekend at home and threw a surprise party for my sister in law for graduating nursing school. She in now an RN. A long way from housekeeping at red roof inn. Very proud and happy for her .
Hope everyone else is enjoying the warm summer, as the Game of Thrones people say. winter is coming.

Running hard this week. Making my way down to the border again...assured that I won't sit the weekend. That would make for a long weekend with the holiday giving many the day off.

I can't believe it's back to school already. My kids are growing up way too fast. The twins are only 10 and they wear bras now!
And they are getting tall. Taller than my wife at 5'2", I'm waiting for a coach to ask them to play girls basketball.
Regardless, next 2 times I'm home, it's salmon fishing time!
    Have a safe holiday everyone!

I know what you mean by growing up. Mine are growing up fast also. They are 11 and 8 and it is a never ending fuss with them about getting ready.

Glad you are doing good on your adventure.

Man I don't know if I could do this having kids at home, hats off to all the drivers that do because I can only imagine how difficult that can be.

It was super rough in the beginning, as I started driving when they were only 9 months old. I was the one who had the rough go of it. As they grew up they and I realized that every time at home was quality time.
My wife babysits a couple of other kids on occasion , and one of the boys is just plain annoying and rude. Interrupting adult conversations and such, so I let him know he was being rude, and when I talked to his mother about it, her response was "you just haven't learned to tune him out yet".
Im glad I don't have that kind of relationship with my kids. I couldn't imagine just ignoring them like that.

And just so it's clear, I'm not a super trucker and I like to have nice things and go places to do things. I do not have 90k socked away because I removed myself from humanity. I enjoy life while I can. Money is not everything. I'd rather be happy and working than rich and bored.

I like fishing, camping, and tabletop RPGs. I go paint balling and hiking on occasion. I like interacting with the world around me .
When I see people bragging about how much money they have , I see a Scrooge in his counting house complaining that the poor and prisoners should do more work for society. That's just how I see it , I could be way off.
I do believe one person can make a difference, the question is, should they?

I might luck out tomorrow and my load will be ready in the morning rather than 420pm as stated in the dispatch. I have developed a good working relationship with some of the customer base. And he clued me in that my load has a low piece count and they are loading it now (9pm). That will give me a leisurely drive over 2 days rather than gunning it overnight and trying to make it to Denver from Dallas in 1 shift and 3hrs. I'm positive it will work out.
    Time for bed.
