Snowwy, you keep telling yourself that. My degree is in computer engineering with a major in computer networking. I know what I'm doing and trust me, my pc is running at 100%, and I've never had to do wipe. There is a way to repair Windows files, its called Windows repair. It works, but if you had the correct preventive maintenance programs, you'll seldom have to do a repair.

Like I said, keep telling yourself that man.

And I will do just that. Just remember the next time your having to do a full wipe, then spending the next few days getting updates and drivers installed, I'll be sitting here running my system the way I always have and not needing to do anything other than schedule a program to run in the background.

I personally like avast. It works well and was rated by pc magazine as one of the best free antivirus programs. I refuse to use McAfee or Norton because the amount of memory they both use. Avg uses slightly more memory, but far less than the above mentioned.

Lol I've never seen a fill wipe and reinstall of Windows take 30 minutes. You sure must be a ####### magician to get Windows 8 to install that fast and then get the 3.5gb download off 8.1 to install as well. Plus all the other updates.

30 minutes for a full wipe and reinstall....########

There are a number of sites on the internet where you can download software for free or at least very low cost. They often include anti-virus software, malware removal and other very useful apps. Here are just two websites that may be of interest to you:
    .
.www.cnet.com - they have a tab for downloads where you can get software for a fee, shareware and freeware (software at no cost to you)
.www.snapfiles.com - a ton of software in multiple categories such as http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/categories/security_privacy/index.html
.www.Komando.com - the website for Kim Komando a woman that has a syndicated radio program about computers they have a download section
