I write as a hobby, I post my writing on a writers forum. I write fiction and non-fiction. A couple of my stories are sexually explicit, and contain a warning that they are intended for mature readers.
One story is named "Rebecca," a work of fiction I started writing 2 years ago, finished and posted 01-29-2007.
In August I started working for Heartland Transportation and began hauling out of Blue Bunny in Lemar Iowa. 6 months after I posted the story.
I gave a security guard my card with the web address written on the back, a female security guard by the name of Rebecca. I told the guard that most of my work is a page or less. I didn't direct her to the story "Rebecca," I directed her to the web site.
The guard filed a complaint against me with her company claiming I wrote the story about her. I've been banned from Blue Bunny, and placed on probation by Heartland for "Sexual Harassment."
The management at Heartland read my story and agrees that it is not about the security guard. However, I'm still banned from Blue Bunny.
I think if the people involved knew the facts, they would agree it's all a mistake.

    Bummers, Otter.

Perhaps if you'd have titled your short story, "Bunny" or "Bunny Blue" the ramifications wouldn't have been as severe. :biggrin_25512: :biggrin_25525:

I goin' out on a limb here, but I'm guessin' your story wasn't about ice cream. :biggrin_25525:

The story is named "Rebecca," a work of fiction named for one of the people in the story. A woman who uses deviate sexual behavior to get the main character to commit a crime against her twin sister. At no place in the story is there a security guard, dairy, or ice cream.
I think it sucks that Wells Blue Bunny took action against me without reading the story or giving me a chance to defend myself.

Now days anything sexual or borderline offensive is trouble. Even if the story wasnt about her, it could still beconsidered sexual harassment if the story was sexual in any way and she considers herself a deeply religous person. She could have went and read it thinking it was a nice mystery and thought it to be to steamy for herself.

I don't get it. I mean you gave a chick named Rebecca a card that directs her to a web site that happens to have a raunchy storey starring a chick named Rebecca? And she got upset and thought you were creepy? Man that's wierd.

It's all in how a person reads what's written.
    Or WANTS to read it.
It might not be whatcha actually wrote though.
Such is the flaw in the written word.
    Ya reckon. :biggrin_2558:

Actually, if memory serves, that can NOT be considered harassment. Harassment occurs when person B (in this case, the guard) asks person A (you) to stop - and you do not.

A story, on a web page, that person B has to actively go to, just can NOT be considered harassment. Libel, maybe, but not harassment.

However, that doesn't mean Blue Bunny can't deny you access based on her complaint. It's private property, after all. So, I wouldn't fault them - I'd be peeved at that stupid guard for getting on her high horse and imposing her morals on you.

A question, though - did she know that some of your stories are.. not for younger viewers, before she went in search of them?

It may not help, but have you considered writing to Blue Bunny and laying out the story <ahem> from your point of view?

I bet guards are like Big truck truck drivers ---
GOOD one's are hard to find.

I also bet Blue Bunny doesn't want their Bunny to die.
And, I bet that (good gawd guard) wouldn't hesitate to slap the Bunny with a sexual (or lack thereof) discrimination 'law-soot'.

If she packs heat, she might wanna consider being a thug for C.R. England. A "good" guard with a good aim -------- Bullseye! :biggrin_2551: :biggrin_25525:
