My focus out here is to work, make money, pay off a huge amount of debt then save up to buy my own truck out right and then take over the world
My 5 year plan right now is to pay off the $60k in debt I have (about 2.5years to do), save up enough money to buy a used truck, maybe a new one (about 2 years). All of that is completely doable with as a company driver with Prime. I will not lease a truck as long as I am in debt. This plan may take me longer then if I took the risk of being a Lease Operator, but I know the risk this way is very minimal and they miles are predictable. Slow and steady wins the race.
There are no shortcuts in life, experience, business, or relationships. Spent the last 10 years learning that lesson the hard way.
One day I will have a truck big enough for 2 people. Then I'll start the first truck route between the main land and Hawaii. I am sure I can find a few drivers willing to make that drive on a regular basis. The pay and miles would be perfect![]()

Surely I can't be the only oldtimer laughing his ### off at you guys complaining about lack of space? Trying living in a single bunk cabover where any time the cab had to be raised, everything had to come out of the bunk, unless you wanted to buy a windshield. I ran team in 9300 Binders with 42" sit in flat top sleepers, as in pre-unified cab/sleepers. Even a lightweight is huge compared to that!
You guys really don't know how cushy you have it!cabovercrazy, darthanubis, Dan G and 2 others Thank this. -
You don't really know how cushy that cabover of yours truly was.

I appreciate your respectful response.
I've read multiple articles saying on the eco49 lightweight fleet max payload is between 49-50k.
That's the basis of why I think what I do.
If you're out there with a lightweight truck.. you see BILLS of Lading everyday.
If you truly see on your bills it says you have 55K worth of product that you're carrying then well those articles I read must be wrong.
Must be having those tandems really way back there... -
darthanubis Thanks this.

There no one company where there no fat drivers.
Flatbed I've seen the least, you can't be lazy and do flatbed.
The statements that I make are based off of Prime's website, when I spoke to them, articles written about them and what other drivers have said.
I'm just not randomly making stuff up, I posted sources to what I've said a lot, including articles written about the eco49 fleet.
If I'm wrong, so be it.. then the information out there is incorrect.
But when others drivers said they're governed at 57 and you say 62... what am I to believe? -
Try someone who's driven for the carrier for quite some time.
BTW... it's 58 and 62.darthanubis Thanks this. -
