What's a scale job? And I don't have any experience much less 3 years worth.

Whenever someone brings up the fact that they are going to pay under a 1099, turn around and RUN!

Probably, not sure about local, I've never been a local driver. If you want to get your house built more quickly though, look at CTL Transportation and SVTN.

I think he means either "union scale wage" or "prevailing wage."

A lot of energy companies in nw la and e tx crying for drivers. You'd do a lot better than $150 a day. Be home most nights too.

where do you find these companies? I'd hate to let go of my dirt work dream but can't live off slave wages.

Well I think I may have found what I'm looking for just trying to figure out if I should. Starting pay is $13 an hour and 70 hours a week, so right at $1100 a week. Even though it's a $1 less than what I make now, I'd still make about $1000 more a month. I'll be driving either a regular dump truck or a belly dump, he said he's not sure yet. It comes with w2 so I won't have to do a 1099 and it has health insurance. It will also give me the experience and possible contacts id need to start my own gig one day. I'm looking for cons but all I can really think is that it's $13 an hour instead of $14.

Yeah I'm having a hard time coming up with a reason not to take it other than I think a truck driver should get paid more than $13 an hour but I have to look at the hours. 30 hours a week at $20 an hour ain't bad and I have to remind myself I won't get top pay as a greenhorn. It's exactly the type of trucking I'm looking for, he's been in business since 1996 and he seems like a real nice guy. I just hope he's being honest with me about the hours, and he covered up sensitive information but he let me see a few check stubs and none of the guys YTD wasn't under 33k and it's only September. I believe this to be a good experience for me and a heck of a lot better than hauling poop.
