I suppose I should have said all my experience is with TMC. I totally agree with you. The same if I went to reefer, there's a slight learning curve, but most of it is common sense. The woahs I've had are the reason i want a load board based O/O gig. I hate forced dispatch, I hate being told where and what to do, and I really hate sitting because THEY can't find me a load, when I KNOW I could find one. Whoa, rant over, sorry. Haha I have no doubt he could do either, I guess I just figure flat has more options, minus machinery and such.

I've never worked for a mega carrier like Melton or TMC or in any other segment in trucking. So you have an advantage over me in that regard. I dont know what its like. I've only driven for other O/O's and now leased on with an O/O that I was driving for. So my view on things is pretty narrow. I only know what I know. But I think in what ever we do,.. the hungrier you are the more apt you are to survive, because you are willing to go above and beyond to do what ever it takes to make it.

When I switched to open load trailer. I pulled a flatbed for about 3 months, seen more and better paying loads for stepdeck. So I bought a 48 step, I prefer OD loads, better pay.
I carry tarps only use them once a month if that. I never take a tarp load I can't stand on my deck and tarp.
It doesn't take long to learn the areas you want good money to go to. Because there is only cheap loads coming out, that's when I run partial or empty. I won't lose money so a broker can get his cut. Like the load Hurst has going to Casper.
Couple years back I delivered to Seattle when I got to the truckstop, a couple Mercer drivers had been waiting a couple days to get a load. I got on my load board and had a load out of there the next morning. Good Luck.

With an RGN one is only limited by the number of axles one has with them at that moment!
