I too am going to NLR this sunday. I cannot tell you how excited I am to have been selected by Maverick.

This is a total career change for me.. having sat behind a desk for the past 10 years , I am done dealing with the corporate world. And its time for me to look at the personal challenge of trucking...

I just finished school last week and now its time for me to learn more about life in an 18 wheeler. No matter what is going to be thrown at me , I am sure I'll keep the same smile that I have when I register my logbook On duty-Driving.

I've chosen Maverick because it seems they have better equipments, better rules and more proud than other trucking co out-there. I hate working for Company with employees that don't have proud in what they are doing...

Now Maverick has chosen me and I am thrilled...

I want to drive because I like it a lot. I want to secure loads and tarp because I want to know this is done the right way.

Yes I am sure there will be bumps on the road and I might not smile all the time. but if this was easy , I am sure we would still complain about it.

I did the mid life carrer change too,,,
I have been with Maverick for 6 months, they are a great company to work for, the training was excellent, everything my recruiter said would happen did, everyone I have met in the company has been professional
and supportive, good people, and they are very paticular about who they hire, there were 8 of us in my securement training class, only 4 of us actually got all the way through it and into our own trucks. Pay attention, work hard and have a positive attitude and you will be fine.

I am in the Specialized division and like it , they really do have 24/7
support from the training department for ANY questions you have, working with glass is hard work but they pay you for it, they have a lot of new trailers on the road and a lot more on order, some of the schnieder trailers are pretty tired, but it is getting addressed as fast as possible. I am glad to part of this team.

I have found there is almost a brotherhood with drivers from all the divisions, you run into a fellow Maverick driver at a truck stop and you have an instant friend. it's pretty cool.

What are the pay rates for the so called "Covered Wagon Division" of Maverick Transportation anyway? I never did find on Mavericks evasive website the driver referal bonus amounts.

I gaurentee the coverd wagon rate is more than regional.

So why would (msg #942) there be a waiting list for coverd wagon and not flatbed?

I knew a staight anwser was too much to ask for.But again I will ask. What are the rates?

Actually, pay rate for drivers is the same, not matter what division, US, Long Haul, RAT or RSB (covered wagon). Where the difference is is that c/w drivers don't get tarp pay. And Mav doesn't pay if the driver has to break down the side kit (so far, I've found that Mav is the only c/w outfit that doesn't pay for this).

Of course, the + is that the c/w drivers don't carry the 8' drop lumber tarps, also :biggrin_255:
