There is no shame in running "for your LIFE". Take the truck, take the cash, here's my x's cell phone #, tell her Bill says "hey".:biggrin_25525:

Actually, I agree with you. But I'm still not going to carry into a courthouse!

There is no shame in running your right by that. But have you tried out running a speeding bullet lately? Now days more and more crooks are hopped up on drugs. They dont care what you let them have they will kill you for the fun of it.
God created man but Colt made them equal.

I wish I could remember the man's name - ex Chicago homicide detective - but he teaches some self defense classes. Not "beat 'em up and leave 'em for dead", but 'how to survive an encounter"

His very first recommendation is "run"

    reasoning is this:
The numbers he uses are WAY inflated, but it makes it obvious why he teaches as he does. I've forgotten all the steps, but it goes along these lines:

You are at gunpoint, and you run.

Assume a 50/50 probability that the mugger will fire the gun (it's far less than this, but we'll use these numbers)

Now, you are running, and he's fired the weapon. Assume a 50/50 probability that he actually hits you.

Assume you've been hit. Assume a 50/50 probability that it's a center-mass shot and you are dead.

Right there, it's a 12.5% chance you'll die if you run (IIRC, though, he had some steps I've forgotten, and the chance was down around 3%). All based on 50/50, which is very heavily biased in the unhealthy direction.

Compare that to the greater than 50% probability that you'll end up dead if you do NOT run. Not a hard choice to make.

I'll see if I can't find his lecture somewhere, and post a link to it.

(regarding 'hopped up on drugs': all the better. Makes it much less likely that they'll hit anything but the ground when they DO pull the trigger. Remember, the farther away you are from your target, the finer the muscle control needed to hit said target. )

I definitely agree on these stats. A moving target is difficult to hit and a handgun is usually not the best for hitting the target or doing any real damage, but then that all depends on luck. As they say, when it is your time, your time is up. Still, great advice. If in doubt, Run! Then again there are many who are crack shots with any weapon. :biggrin_25523:

Company policy is one thing because you are driving their equipment and entering there property. It is the old adage that you have rights until you step on the toes of someone else. However, you still have a right to carry and if you are licensed, that might be a whole different thing.:biggrin_2552:

When I worked a loading dock, several drivers would show me the guns they carried on them. they were mostly .22 pea shooters. They would always say after showing me the weapon, "I have a permit". Please, they crossed state lines and are in a Federally regulated Commercial Vehicle. a State permit is meaningless. Know firearms law when you make the choice to carry, and never show others. You can NOT get a permit to carry a loaded gun out of your state. With out a permit to carry, you cannot have a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle. in some states, you can have a weapon, unloaded and not in easy access (don't keep it under your seat.) Get near a Federal facility to unload,,, you better not have anything that "looks" like a weapon. Federal Constitutional law for "Have and Possess" stops at your residence. If you shoot someone even in self defense legally, that gun is gone. They call it evidence, but good luck petitioning to get it back. Remember "the Law" is different from law enforcement. We are sheep, they need to protect everyone. The best way they see is an unarmed populace is more easily controlled.
