It is a sad truth that this is a fact of this industry, and having been in this situation, to a lesser degree, I can relate to the situations discussed here. The fact is that this is not uncommon at all. Everyone has to start somewhere and the aforementioned scenario's are more than likely going to be experienced by some, if not most, new drivers. The good thing is that after this phase of learning is over things get better (and this is very relative depending on where you are employed). But, come on, this is hilarious reading, whether you know anything about trucking or not. I feel for those who have been exposed to this type of behavior, but hang in there, it does get better. Get your experience and look for "higher ground".

I actually copied this story and printed it out. I show it to anyone I can when I am at the terminal....it always gets laughs. Yeah, I had a similar situation, not quite as bad...but almost as bad.

Later_Dude, I'm gunnin' for yah!
I woke up this morning with a perfectly good grouch on - and don't even THINK of blaming low blood sugar!
I figgered to jump on the board and maybe abuse some other noob (I are one) for the heck of it.
First, though, I had to kick the dogs out of the way, and punt the cat. That's getting harder, these days, though. Darn cat hides when she sees me coming. But I'm blessed with greater intelligence than that - I can still find her and get the field goal. (Can't do that to the dogs, though - YOU try kicking 120 pounds of big dog - even with a size 13, all you get is a smile. At least, I THINK it's a smile.)
Then a quick trip to the porcelain museum (well, relatively quick. At my age, that trip is NEVER quick) and downstairs to the computer room...
The first post I read is about Werner's orientation and a trainer. Darnit, I actually cracked a smile... and I don't feel like yelling at the kids.
Like I said, dude, I'm gunnin' fer yah. When I find you, I'm gonna fart in your air intake!later_dude Thanks this. -
I have a new rope. Let's lynch 'em!
Pre-coffee, a "good grouch" is a good indicator of all systems normal.
Doncha know.
If y'all have opposing thumbs --- y'all have dominion over the beasts. That's why I have seven cats. THEY know who's boss.
Shux Howdy, Lurch ---- you're just a kid.
I can't handle stairs anymore.
Just don't make that a habit.

Still undecided Thanks this.

I think he is joking.....everyone knows it's better to grab them by the tail and swing em' like a lasso over your pit bull cage....

Shock - darn, I knew there was a reason I kept all those books in the museum! And it sucks to be me - I don't drink coffee (Military cured that right quick)
Most of the dogs are.. dogs. But that American Tundra Shephard, he's family. Dropped $4000+ on him a year ago at the emergency vet - without even thinking about it. Heck, I'd think twice about paying half that much for either of the kids!
Wildeyes - I'm sorry you took it that way. It was my intent that the entire context of my post should indicate humor. No, I do NOT kick my dogs (unless you count a toe-tap to the butt to get them the heck out of my way at 04:00 when I need that little room now]/i])
As for the cat. It's my wife's. Even if I were so inclined, such an action would be... um.. I think "bad" is a suitable term. In any event, she sleeps on the bed with me and the wifeoid, or in with the younger boy.
For the record: I can not STAND "PETA" and their cohorts. But I will not tolerate animal abuse.
As for 'smart' cats.. yeah, a brain the size of a walnut. yup. smart. Gimme a dog any old day. (Remember, if you can punt it over the fence, it's not a dog, it's an animated squeek-toy) -
man your post had my side hurting
