They were just wheels stacked 4 high. A chunk of 6x6 with a plywood cap is inserted to make them one piece. Two chains on the front and back; one over the top and the other wrapped in middle pulling forwar/back. The rest a strap over. Very easy and quick.

Hey guys, great thread! I am talking to recruiting now, will be submitting my app/info next week...have 24 months exp but only 4 months recent, ie previous 36...they said to get a month current and I am in..but I will have to go out with a mentor for 7-10days, is 2 weeks...if I stay where I'm at for another month then no mentor needed...however my thought is this...the majority of my exp is food grade tanker, and recently dry van, I did however do a couple of months with Westerns Express flat bed division, they sucked to say the least LOL, only get 2 lumber tarps, said too many people stole or sold the smaller ones...so I have had limited exp doing flat..going out for a couple weeks with a mentor may give me some exp/ways of tarping..tips/tricks.. Your thoughts??
Also...West Coast guys, I live in the Sacramento area...how has it been getting home when you want...how long are you generally out...I understand it can vary but just looking for a average...I have no fam to deal with, just a girlfriend...gotta keep her happy!! LOL
I had a couple questions I forgot to ask the ladies in recruiting... what are the trucks governed at and are there inverters installed or allowed to be installed?
Thanks,
Scott -
Got my hometime load!!! Picked up at TA Chen in Long Beach. For those that havent made it there yet, it's mini blinds and shutters etc. All in giant cardboard boxes, 4x4x8 feet. Stacked 2 high and 2 wide. Tarped load. Good chance that you'll get a 4x6x8 foot crate also. The top of the crate is 1/8 inch plywood. Pretty easy for a man to fall through a piece of wood that thin... don't ask how I know. Lol.
Tarping a bunch of cardboard boxes 13 feet of the ground can get a little sketchy. Trying to get off the load and onto the ladder all I could picture was Noggin taking his magic tarp ride off of his load! I'm not scared of heights, but put me on a ladder and ##### gets real!
Anyways, meeting another driver for repower tomorrow. He's already there, I'm 4 hours out + my 10. Would be nice if he is empty! I'm ready for a week off. -
We're at 65 mph and we have 1500 watt inverters installed. I don't think you need to go out with a trainer. You already have more flatbed experience than I had when I started. They threw me to the wolves with absolutely zero real world flatbed experience... I made it! It's just common sense stuff. Learn as you go.
rcpilot Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info!... they said due to not having recent driving experience is the reason for the mentor...
How has it been getting home?
