Its not an isolated incident. If you decide to go then you goto MTI 3 weeks school not paid then 3 days orientation then out with a trainer. Give it your all and dont stop. Several people have started training and quit or were released by mike millis for one reason or another. You have to learn quickly. Best of Luck,Keep us posted. Only you can make the choice.Make it and DONT QUIT UNTIL YOU GOT WHAT YOU WENT THERE FOR!![]()

i figure i will check out a few of them maybe get pre-qualified from a few of them then decide on whats better in the long run -
If your in Wisconsin check out Roehl Transport, their training and company is good.
-
i was reading on them today ,, i was going to give them a call tomorow before i go and do my hazmat test last one to get

Dont waste your money on Haz Mat. Millis dont require it. Only way Haz Mat is worth if the carrier pays extra for hauling and for the background investgation you must have. The bottom line is if a company is too cheap too pay the extra then I would not waste my time on them. There are too many companies that dont require them. If you are still thinking about the big orenge then look at the latest post about them going to 60 MPH. IF I lived in WI Millis or Roelh would be a better choice.

people who go to mti and go with a trainer usually get there own truck. If you pay attention and drive safe and and are not a complete moron then one has nothing to worry about. mike millis does not like to let people go, he will put them with another trainer before anything.

NOT TRUE!! My husband went there, read his posts. Mike Millis let him go because he needed 2 more weeks after with a trainer for 5 weeks. The only reason it was 5 weeks is because they got caught in alot of bad weather plus, 4 almost 5 days for the safety banquet that his trainer went to. So he was only with the trainer 4 weeks and trainer told Mike that he was doing good. I don't see how you can say that if you don't get your truck, about being morons. My husband did what he was told and still ended up with no job. Maybe he didn't want to drive after only 3-4 hours of sleep, that should have been 10 hour break, or not be legal on his logs. They do not give you another trainer. If he was so bad then why did he get his license and another job in a month after being let go? He did find another company and is happier, enough said but don't go making people look bad because Mike, has let go alot of good potiental drivers, that came from one of the Millis drivers themselves. I'd like to say more but it wouldn't be nice and I'm not that kind of person, it just make me angry, you don't know all that has gone on, so maybe you better watch yourself you could make alot of people angry. ENOUGH SAID!

I dont want to burst anyone bubble here, but OTR is a very grueling job.! its a 14 hour a day job mostly. Plus it takes brains and plenty of them. Most truck drivers out there are some of the smartest people I know. It also take some cash to be OTR, you have to still eat and drink, and its not as cheap as being home every night.
Before you get disappointed with a big bill to still have to pay off. Do the Math... Sure .32 cents a mile sounds great, but what if you only get to run 300 miles that day or less, or everyday ?? You can only work 70 hours within one week.. that includes on duty plus driving. Its not just sit behind a wheel and drive all day at 65mph..?!!!!! You could sometime wait for hours to get unloaded if its a live unload, and or loaded. Sure some companys pay detention pay, after 2 hours if at all.. Thats sitting in the truck making no money at all. !
I have already graduated from a trucking companys training and have my cdl, plus I was out on training OTR for 11 days. I sit for a day and a half 2 time within that 11 days.. Once to truck repaired, and the other waiting for a load. Plus it cost me app. $200.00 bucks to stay out that long, eats and smokes.
But the training sounds to be cheap enough. But remeber it will cost you money to have your CDL transfered in the state you get your CDL in, plus you will to tranfer again once you get back to your home state a few days later.. In Wis, it cost me $74.00 to transfer Ohio to Wis CDL then once I got home it Cost me another $42.00 to get my Ohio CDL. Plus I had to take more written test in Ohio to get my Ohio CDL.
I just dont want you new guys to go in there blind... There is alot more to Truck Driving then you can imagine....ALOT MORE. How about not being able to take a shower for 3 days ?? Did you think of that ? How about getting up in the middle of the night and having to walk 100 yards to go pea at the truck stop.? Out of pocket cost tolls and weigh stations.? Oh and dont forget the log book..and keeping it legal all day long.
Being a trucker means you have to be an office worker, a general labor, a safe driver, and parcial nomad. Plus you must get use to being away from home for long periods of time.
Just my opinion but hey Ive done. Dont go in blind.. Go to a fav truck stop many many time and sit and watch... -
You know what I really like about OTR Trucking. Its like getting a divorce without having to sign any papers, and loosing half of all your propertly and money

I have been with MIllis almost 5 years. Yes I have trained but was quick to see that I do not have the mind set to baby sit adults.. There are alot of mature adults then there are people dont belong behind the wheel. It is part of Mike Millis job to weed out people who dont work well with Millis. This a great job but people must have heart to make it work.
captK Thanks this.
