I never had any major complaints working for Roehl, (3 separate times actually). I always pulled flatbed, so never really had to deal with the drop/hook trailer search, I'll wait for more qualified candidates to answer that. The original reason I decided on Roehl as my first driving job was partly due to the lack of complaints I found compared to some of the other large companies that offered training. My total time with the company was around 3 years and honestly I have few complaints. I always left for that elusive "local" gig more than any specific issues with the company.

Long term I would say Schneider has more upside. They have more divisions and more opportunities. They are also the largest private general freight carrier so that means of the large carriers their freight base is the largest. I have gone as far as I can at Roehl and am therefore in a position where I have to move to a different situation. The question is are you looking for a job, or a career?

    Plenz3,

I plan on going with Texas regional dry van next year. Is is hard to get a regional job with Roehl or is it a sure thing once you choose this position?

The biggest thing that the Dallas/Grand Prairie is fighting is keeping drivers. Seems like a bit of experience with Roehl then a driver takes off and heads for the oil fields with better pay and hometime. I think you will find that there is a position as long as you keep your head and don't have any accidents or something that will get you canned. They are needing some good drivers.

Yes they do allow pets after a time of safe solo driving but there is a $ cost I’m getting ready to go to CDL school with them and have already ask that question they don’t pay for you to get to school unless you rent a car they reimburse your fuel some I’m going to Appleton WI from St Louis MO!

How much does Roehl pay new drivers once they finish Roehl's CDL program ? Their website is a little confusing...says the drivers don't get paid cpm ??

Depends on what division. Flatbed is 44 CPM and I started at .38 CPM for Dryvan. The old pay structure fluctuated based on performance. All new drivers are going on the new pay structure that runs like a typical company meaning it doesnt fluctuate. I got to choose but from what I understand the new drivers will not get to choose. They just announced it a few months ago so details are still coming out

I'm not sure what Reefer and Curtainside is but Reefer is more than Dryvan and Curtainside is less than flatbed. Mileage wise Dryvan Reefer Curtainside Flatbed. That's in order from most to least. I'm going on month five here and have few complaints

Horrible company. Low pay and LOTS of micromanagement.
