Yup yup... I was off for about two weeks... 12 days to be exact. Went to visit some friends and atv-ing in Colorado. Now I'm back in the truck and trying to remember how to drive this big thing.![]()

Lol. Good deal. Hopefully you had a good vacation.
-
Too many long nights. .. I need another one now. Sleeping in the truck is actually nice and relaxing.
-
Sounds a bit like one of John Christner Trucking's options. Small, manageable weekly mortgage plus a variable mileage charge, depending on the age of the truck. Managing a low-cost weekly payment makes no-miles hometime and longer maintenance or breakdown periods a lot less stressful.
-
Hmm, so does that mean the more miles you run in a week the higher your truck payment is? On the flip side like you mentioned, if you take a week off then your not in too deep of a hole? If I understand that correctly then yeah your right def a lot less stress.
-
Wow that's nice! I'm guessing a few carry over miles but nice none the less with 3 days at home.
So Stormy do you get offered a choice of loads when they have multiple loads? I know someone said it's not forced dispatch. -
Yes on the loads. If they have several in the general area. But if they don't, the load that they do offer is still pretty good. If not, turn it down. Or call your dispatcher and ask if they have any thing else.
The 8000 lease is based on the miles you run
the 4000 lease is the fixed rate . -
-
Yes on both accounts. The truck payment is consistent at, say $350. On top of that, there's 18-21 cpm charge. So more miles does mean a higher payment. But you're driving and earning money. "Normal" leases have, say, a fixed $850 payment without the mileage fee. So if you want or have to take a week off, you would have to save that much before you don't want to go in the hole. It takes more miles to make the "normal" lease payment, too.

I would like your input, please.
There is a not-insignificant commitment in both time and money getting a hazmat endorsement, what with the extra studying, annual renewal, dealing with my second-least favorite government agency, TSA, and the very high-dollar fines for hazmat violations. So is it "worth it" to go through that agony for a few more cents per mile?Last edited: Sep 8, 2014
