Got a bit more weight moved forward onto the steer with a trailer. Bobtailing there is a lot of different noises and vibrations. I have a midroof 730 and I get a bit nervous at times bobtailing as there is a totally different feel to the truck. Things go back to normal when I get a trailer attached. Have you done a tri-axle alignment recently?

check every joint in your drive shaft, had the same problem in my fld.

My mechanic says its the Carrie bearing and it has minimal play up and down and side to side. And I got a three axle alignment last week at TCI tire centers.

I have a similar noise in an 04 International 4300 straight with dt466 and 6 speed. Noise happens between 50-60mph and changes or goes away with change in load and throttle. I had drive shaft redone, new U joints, and yokes etc. New tires on rear. Still no change. Not sure what it could be.
Find a place that can put the truck on a dyno and isolate the noise. -
Carrier bearing? On the drive shafts? My truck has 2. I just replaced with the rest of the driveshaft, didn't change much. They are not that expensive. Dana spicer makes them in china now under SPL name. I tryed to get the american made one and could not find it. Even my Int. dealer is pushing the China bearing and trying to charge the same price as the american made.

strongarm this site won't let me reply back to you and they deleted your post. [email protected] is my email if you are still looking for someone.

Did you check the axle angles? Volvo corrected all axle angles in 2009. My DSM says they were all wrongly set from the beginning in all air suspensions. And it has been going on like that for many many years without being addressed by Volvo. All fellow truckers should know the change. Check if this qualifies for class action law suit

Ended ip being the front middle differential. A gear was broken and missing a tooth. Thus causing the hum and vibration.
mp4694330 Thanks this.
