Hello to all you JCT folks.

I wanted to ask a few questions for my hubby if I can.

First is how many drivers work for JCT and what is the length of service with the company is there a real high turn over.

How are the miles are the pretty solid average say 2800 give or take a week.

How is the DM support and office personal support

and say if you turn in a log for payment and payroll for some reason did not apply the miles even though its turned in on time is there a personal person that can get on it or does the driver sit and wait for next week check.

    What about shop personal?

My hubby is to come on board end of the month after he gives proper notice to the co he is with now.

We are just a little nervous on this since he ran a l/p last year for a co K but again this Co did not give him OTR 48.

There was a lot of issues with him turning in his loads on time but payroll would not process it so it would cause a negative for that week then wind up owning again for the next week time and time again.

So if there is a issue with pay being turned in and its not on that week check is it fixed pretty quickly.

And if any one could be any help to us while we try this again.

Is there any good phone apps for him to download for fuel prices. And or special equipment he can purchase I saw someone say something line a scangauge but not sure if is the correct name.

Just trying to help the old man out
    Much thanks

    Hello BaHa,

Hes coming on board to lease a truck with JCT. The past L/p program was with K and that is all i will say and no they did not pay him as soon as a job was turned in. They would come up with some sort of answer oh we dont have it oh yes we do sorry about that it will be on your next check and since they did that a few times it made for some major negative

JCT pay is a week behind. A load I turn in today will be paid next week. Takes some getting used to. I average between 2800-3000 miles a week. You can do more or less just depends on how you like to run. We do a lot of runs into and out of California. We will take in meat and come out with produce.

My personal experience with my DM and other office personal has been good so far. Shop personal experiences vary driver to driver. I can't comment to much other that because I have not dealt with the shop very much. When you first pick your truck. Go over it with a fine tooth comb and let the shop know because they will fix it before you leave.

Each Friday, you will receive a message via Qualcomm on the list of trips they have received to paid on Thursday. If a trip is not on there; call the settlements department and they will look into the issue. Make sure you know when and where your dropped that TripPak envelope. The cut off is Wednesday but I use Tuesday as the last day to drop an envelope. If it is TripPaks fault, they might have you fill out another envelope and scan it in so you can at least get paid for that trip. Or, if you like I do and make an electronic copy of the bills, receipts, and envelope and you tell them that, they very well give you an email address to email them a copy of those documents. Settlements will be able to tell you when you will get paid for that load. The key is to catch it tat Friday when get your trips received message and I would say no later than Monday. Settlements does not work on weekends.

For fuel prices, I use the apps for each of the major chains. I also use http://efsrc.promilesonline.com/EFSTruckStops/ByRoute.aspx for fuel prices.

    Wifeofdz Thanks this.

JCT also has a mentorship program. Where if someone so chooses, JCT will assign you a mentor that you can contact for any help/advice you may need.

Of course, your biggest expense will be fuel. Control that and you can make good money. Not controlling fuel is the biggest reason why people fail here. A big help is that the company pays all the fuel taxes. I have not seen or heard of another company that will do that for its L/P's and O/O's. And you can fuel anywhere you wish as long they take the EFS card. Just remember that we do get a small extra discount off the cash price at the major chains. Now, that won't stop me from going elsewhere if I get fuel for more than 10¢ a gallon cheaper than a major chain.

With the way the truck payment is set up, if you have a bad week for whatever reason, as long as you controlled your fuel correctly, you will still have small paycheck.

As far as taking home time, I will take a few days off when I have next months bill saved for in the bank. That is on top of my normal savings. I take a week off about every six months. I put away 15% for taxes, now 10% into savings, and the rest for bills and other what nots. And yes, I do support a wife and two kids this way.

Best of luck to you and your husband and hope that JCT works out better than his previous company. I too was leased at another company and they refused to pay me for a load even though I had all the paperwork for the load. Turned in that truck that weekend and came over here. For me, I wish I had done it long time ago.

    Hello, MachoCyclone,

Thank you so much for your insight this does help us in making this decision. I will if ok pass all this along to him. I think the bigest thing he needs to remember is turning in the trip pak now with that being said is this like done at truck stops or a mail slot somewhere. I know he is used of scanning his jobs from previous Co K so I am sure they will go over all that with him the end of the month as far as locations and the cut off ect. And thanks so much for the apps. I have read a thread about buying a ok not sure if i am saying it correclty a scangauge? Do you think its wise to purchase this as well.

I like that they do offer a mentorship. He has never drove Refr before its been dry vans. Is there a difference as far as the way the truck runs or its pretty much the same with the gear shifting ect. I do like the way the truck payments are set up like you said if for some reason a bad load week or something a guy can still take home a small check and not be in the red. I also like your formula of taking time off when next month bills are covered that's very smart. Also another question do they start taking out the truck payments right away or do they give you a few weeks or running? He's pretty excited to come on board. Thanks again for your honest feed back.

Any truck stop that has the yellow box that says TripPak. Usually located next to UPS and FedEx boxes but some truck stops like to hide it elsewhere. Just ask an employee there if you don't see one.

First week is no truck payment. So run your butt off if your can. I managed 2700 miles my first week. Also, make sure to have all the orientation videos done before orientation. That will save a ton of time at the yard. If you cant get them all at home, the motel you will be staying at has a computer room just for new JCT drivers where you can do the videos. Some are long and others very short. Each one has a small quiz at the end that you have to pass. If not, then you have to re-watch the video.
