Just tried to pick up a load at the Walmart DC in Grantsville, UT. Nothing in the dispatch indicated we had to be bobtail. They refused letting us drop an empty and advised they let Swift know last week about the instruction. Had to run back to SLC terminal to drop the empty. Headed back out to Walmart.

This load is running to Victorville, CA. We're planning to bypass the I-15 closure by running west on I-80 to Wendover, then south on US-93 Alt, US-93, US-6 to Bishop, CA and south on US-395. It will add about 150 miles to the trip, but from all the reports of the 8-10 hour delays running a 77 mile detour around the I-15 washout this looks like our best option.

jurupa valley terminal. did one full trip from dc to railyarf. 2nd trip dc to tcall here since no appt time at railyard. 3rd load i just picked up and doing a ten here. had only 3 hrs left and didnt think i could make it to railyard then back here. found out today i have saturday and sundays off. the guy who is in charge of the blitz is the fleet manager here and said i'm off when he is. said i can work saturday doing local stuff. told him that all i need is sundays off. so if i have the hours saturdays,i'll work. been fun driving in this traffic on the 60 to 710 to railyard on washington blvd in commerce

new guy had stopped me and asked me about mac 9 and refusing a load since he needed to get home and they were sending him way out of route.. so showed him. then he asked about the load he was on and i saw it didnt look rite. his final wasnt matching up from qc to the paperwork. so he went into dipatch and asked them. i went in to take shower. saw him at his truck again and asked if it was ok. he said they said yes. so i got on his qc and looked over his dispatch and saw trip#,trailer #, and final name was differnt that what was on the paperwork. so i told him to go back and tell them they gave him the wrong paperwok. the last 4 number on the trip# was the same and dispatch went by that and not the whole number. lucky he stopped me cause he would probably got a service failure and it was only his 2nd day solo. also suggested he leave now to the final in montebello ca and see if they let him deliver hour early. his next preplan he accepted p/u at 1000 tomorrow in ontario ca and his appt time for tonites final was at 2100. told him it was a pretty tight schedule and that he should drive straight to tomorrow shipper for his 10 after getting unloaded. traffic shouldnt be bad tonite. wish him luck. least i saved him one headache.

The new DM's issue is that she requires all of her drivers to call her and talk to her first before rejecting any load, it's her policy not to turn down any freight. That being said, I've already lost track of how many loads I've turned down, but I do know how many times I called to discuss it with her. :smt077

They put me on her fleet last week. I have her pegged as a Type A, control freak, and possibly OCD. I had to put a stop to her committing me to loads. I still haven't decided if I want to go with the Donald Trump or the Vince McMahon version of "YOUR FIRED"

Winfield, AL. Was planning on getting to Jasper, but with some delays this morning due to weather, like some torrential down pours in Memphis, was short by about 10 minutes getting there.

While sitting here, getting to watch a perfect example of why we have a bad reputation. Sitting in a fuel island, one of our O/O, and a mentor with student. Block the island while they are inside eating. Perfect example of how to teach. This is what makes me just so po'd.
