    ? I wasn't defending. .Maybe reiterating. .

BK.. Good to hear from ya.. As far as I know they are offering both. .4000 and 8000.. Last time I was at the yard I saw a freshly numbered truck (4421 ?) but you know how things go, things change and we're the last to know.

Also, Roadcall..I don't know that much about the company side as far as pay.. But 2,500 miles per week is our average. .We don't work hard.. And I do believe the company drivers have a quarterly review.. Might ask Bill/stormy how that works.

    Questions:

For those of you who renewed a lease (not first-timers) what was the term of your second lease and why did you sign on for that long?

According to your driver hotline the company average is 2300 miles not 2500, and that includes both company and lease drivers. Another thing that I found odd is a company with 300 trucks only averages 900 loads a week, so 3 loads per truck on average for a company that runs mostly regional is pretty low.

Look I'm glad it works for all of you on this thread but .43 a mile is a joke if I can't get the miles to go with it. That's either a lot of wasted time at shippers and receivers or sitting waiting on a load but the bottom line is if I'm out there 7 days a week I expect to stay busy and 330 miles a day average is a waste of time, for me anyway.

I don't know if you'll get a response on that question. .I can say this. . When I first came to ACT I talked with a couple drivers. .1 had just completed the 8000 lease and the other was the last driver participating in the 8000 series lease. .(The 4000 series lease replaced 8000 lease, later they began offering both)

Both of the drivers I spoke with are still with ACT as company drivers.

btw.. I'm starting to see more and more T660 trucks with 7000 numbers. . Meaning that they completed the 4000 lease and are now owner ops..Congrats drivers.. I'm envious

What works for some doesn't work for others. .

You need to remember what an average is though. . There are some with many more miles. . Some with less. . Some on home time..shop..etc

    I've had 3,900 miles. . I've had 1,900 miles. .heck I had 600 miles 2 weeks ago but I was home for 5 days.

Also, if a driver can make $1,000 per week driving 2,300 miles @ .43 per... Isn't that smarter than making $1,050 per week driving 3,000 miles @ .35?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather work less and be paid more.

Sorry, there I go defending ACT again. :)

and lol..I wish I could just drive 330 miles a day. . I'm 2 days into the pay period, just delivered my 2 nd load and have 1,400 miles. .killing me..I pick up in the morning and have to be in kc tomorrow night (675 miles ugh)

Anyway, I'm sure that you'll find a company to your liking. . Good luck driver

I appreciate your response Jag, I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers just a little disappointed. Please understand, in no way am I knocking anyone that is happy at ACT, we should all be fortunate enough to enjoy where we work.

Personally I prefer to make a little less, .40, and run all the miles I can handle.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it! Be safe and good luck to all of you.

Thats the thing about this business. We get hung up on the "cents per mile" and the "miles per week" that we kind of lose sight of the fact that every single one of those mile has to be driven.

    And the weather is changing.

Everyone gets hung up on miles because that's how we get paid unfortunately. We should all be paid by the hour but that isn't reality so yes we worry about our miles and cents per. No one is talking about extreme circumstances here, weather or breakdowns and such. If 2300 miles in a 7 day week works for you great, it doesn't for me. Guess you better not go to SEC because they all run lots of miles and constantly complain about having to drive all those miles don't they?

I look at it this way... This is for anyone looking at pay and miles.

I've driven 3800-4200 miles at one company before for let's say $1500. So that's what I thought I always had to do to make the money.

Then I switched companies and can do the $1500 with about 2600-2900, go to a nice dinner, go ride my bike or watch a movie and relax.

No point in killing yourself and driving those extra miles for less $$. At the end of the week both scenarios made the same money but whose more tired and grumpy and who's more relaxed and enjoying the time away from home. Week after week, month after month those extra miles catch up with you and your body/mind.

    Just my $.02. Drive on.

I agree with that. This week I pulled 2 loads for a grand total of 273 loaded miles and 101 empty miles. Gross revenue was $1650 and after expenses I made somewhere around $1100. I worked one day left at 4am and was back home at 6pm. I spent 4 times as many hours playing poker this week than I spent driving a truck and won $2142 doing that.
