Yes! I'm going to Miami Lakes Education Center. The course there is excellent. According to the instructor (who may be biased) that course is RATED as the #1 course in the United States. Whether it is or not I can assure you that it is a very good school and the tuition is quite reasonable as well. It is worth pointing out that two students in my class alone have gone to another school but did not learn much if anything and couldn't really even back up a truck. This is not unusual. If you are interested see this link: http://mlec.dadeschools.net/AdultVocational/Programs/IndustrialEducation/CDL.html
If anything else is needed please let me know. JoeTruckerMia :) Good Luck

I see that you got the answer to your question. However, I will place this link to an article in your thread anyway. Maybe it will show up when someone else does a search for CDL schools in FL. Btw, Miami Lakes Education Center is highly recommended by my instructors at Sheridan Technical College in Broward. Good luck!

The fact that there are adult ed centers everywhere and those two schools are way out west is a travesty. Over 9 week I would spend 1k in gas living in east broward. Night class starts at 5pm? Sad. Move the class every semester, like Atlantic next please.

There is a school in Broward too and they have both morning and evening classes. It's a great option you may at least want to investigate it further.

The class in Broward is at Sheridan Tech (formerly McFatter). Day class starts tomorrow, Oct 8. I live in Miami and enrolled yesterday. It's farther than Miami Lakes for me, but I didn't want to wait until November to start.

Having bit the bullet, taken the course (and thankfully fuel prices have dropped considerably), I can see the benefit to the location. The place would be awsome with campus or local housing!! I am glad I had enrolled after getting feet wet (aka blowing some money at another local school) this was the right choice.

the instructors are firm yet fair, the thing I can say is make your practice count, get your reps in. Try to downshift in the yard as many gears as possible- for example. Will come more natural as it seems less forced in more space.

I am going to miss the class as we now enter the last week. This ckass has some great comraderie and I hope to bump into the guys out on the road.

The job as an instructor has got to be a cool one, as every 9 or so weeks, 10-15 people have the potential to earn well over 36k. That is lifechanging to some circumstances families / individuals face.
