One of my friends has cameras set up in his cab. I do not know if they record audio, but they basically run on a loop and can only send any files if triggered by an event, like hard braking, sudden stop or crash. One lens points forward and one points toward the driver's seat. The camera can only send 15 seconds of video before the incident and 30 seconds after the incident. They aren't spy cams. The office can't tap into them whenever they feel like it.

Yeah, they're out there. You can buy them in truck stops for less that a Bennie. I'm looking for something a little more elaborate. something that would keep maybe 24hr at a time, either on flash or on a hard drive. They're a few hundred bucks so I figure the extra money is worth it for the.

Don't get me wrong; what he has works great. I'm just looking for something a little more elaborate.

I agree with you about the audio. At some point the line has to be drawn on micro management.

i am about to start CDL school and i found a dash cam on amazon for 60 bucks and a memory card for like 15, i have it set o start recording when it sees movement, so when i get my truck if i am at a truckstop sleepin it will record people walking buy and what not as well as record anytime i move the truck. It records in 1020p i do not kno how many hours it can record yet but i will find out eventually. Reviews say it records about 6 hours before it eliminates old files.

That will work, but I want to get the full 360 degree coverage. Or at least as much coverage as possible. plus i am going to be carrying two laptops, a tablet, and a wi-fi rig. I will dedicate the little netbook I have to nothing but the cams. That way, if anything happens, I have the whole day to look at, and not just a few seconds beforehand.

sounds like a nice one. You say it has a six hour recording window? Can you download via USB to a laptop to preserve video?

After my recent termination im getting a dashcam ASAP at my next job and im getting a camcorder to record every movement I make in the storage area. I had a strap come off making a turn and damage valuable inventory and if it happens again I want to be able to prove I never messed with the strap
