Remember US-89 is only a day drive, night time is huge traffic of deer crossing, the safe speed limit for night time is 35 mph or you may hit a deer or two......

there's a 5 miles stretch in utah where the deer roam. at night.

Yeah, I think I mentioned something in an earlier post about conflicting reports and stories. And that is just the media, not counting the internet and CB rumors. But really, 2 miles or 30 miles? Sure it makes a difference on getting the road rebuilt and open, but it makes no difference whatsoever as far as the truck detour is concerned.

Well, that is pretty much all across Utah. Deer get kilt to death all over the state!:biggrin_25523:

That's the first time I've had a chance to run from Wendover to Bishop. I enjoyed the drive, especially as a night run with a full moon. At times I would go an hour without seeing any headlights or tail lights.

I can see that if a winter storm hits it would be a challenge, especially that hill before Ely.

Having a chance to see alpenglow on the Sierra Nevada's as I passed the White Mountains just before Bishop was a treat.

yeah, but someone was talking about the 89. :biggrin_25519:. i've done quite a few trips to phoenix area and back. there's a certain stretch where they hang out on occasion. just south of that chevron gas station. there's even a blinking deer sign to warn. rest of trip is usually pretty boring.

Yes there are some areas that are worse than others, but you can pretty much figure you are in Bambi country when you are in Utah. Particularly the mountain areas.

I'm certain on my passage I made rabbit stew for the next morning's murder of crows.

Well holly smokes! The i-15 has bitten me in the buttocks. No freight because of the wash outs and detours. I get the weekend off!

I was wondering if something like this might happen. I claimed 225 out of route miles when I got stuck in the debacle. The company has been jacking up the rates on the regular customers if they want their freight moved. Guess a lot of them are not into higher rates...

Now excuse me while I turn into a degenerate dirt bag for the weekend!

If that degenerate dirt bag is so preoccupied that he lets you turn into him, the go ahead and run him down!:biggrin_2554::biggrin_25523:
