Sitting at the J in Walton Ky. Don't have to be in Houston till Monday and the kids are going away this weekend so no rush to get there. Just woke up after doing the night shift last night and not feeling motivated to drive so I will probably just wait till morning.

Woke up this morning at co. warehouse, hooked to preloaded trailer and headed to Blue Beacon at Petro in NJ for truck/trlr wash... and met 3 other fellow drivers who were going to the same co. event I was... I turned my laptop on and showed them the location where we were going on Google satellite, street view, and we discussed 2 possible routes...
I was the first one to leave Petro and headed to huge service plaza in Little Ferry, NJ ...
All other 4 trucks got at the plaza a little later and we all "killed" some more time there before heading to university campus.
The "leader" truck driver asked me to be the second in line and his backup... It was a convoy of 5 big trucks

running on very narrow, congested streets in NJ during rush hr... But we all arrived at the campus sound and safe...
We turned our flashers on, parked in the middle of the narrow street at the campus and I and the leader got out of our trucks and walked around to decide which parking lot we would "invade"...
Two very narrow and sharp turns to get in... and avoid the tree low branches and curbs...
Now we are all parked at one of the campus parking lot... blocked two entrances so nobody can block our exit tomorrow morning...
Tomorrow morning it will be pictures session and then one of the drivers and I will head to another location, a much smaller parking lot for delivery... and there will be folks waiting there to direct us to the entrance of the parking lot going on the wrong way street...
And... after that, will head to some service plaza in NJ for reset and pick up on Monday morning, going to AL next week...

Sitting at some hole in the wall Sinclair in Crook, Colorado. Trying to time it so I'll roll through that mess on I15 in Nevada in the early morning hours on Sunday.

At the S. Baltimore T/A getting my memory refreshed to why I do not want to purchase more equipment and hire drivers (no offense to present company, of course). I mentioned this trip included relocating a couple of trailers belonging to a fleet that also brokers loads and treats us real good. I dropped the new (newer, but used) one this morning and hooked the one with the dead reefer unit to take back. It had supposedly been checked out at a shop and ready to go LOL. A few problems led me to run it into the TA shop before taking my chances going thru all the scales on the way back. Had to wait 6 hrs to get in the shop, then another 4 waiting for the work to get done. Thankfully, I'm a patient man. I also got a good nap in and had a really good dinner in the restaurant, probably the best at TA I've ever eaten at. The salad bar was awesome.
So back to that trailer. Mind you, this trailer is (was until the reefer died) in daily use. Emergency air line to LR brake chamber hissing. One clearance light just gone. Not burned out. Gone. A hole in the rear header where a lamp should go. LF wheels not lined up to be able to check the inside tire pressure. Chunk out of the sidewall of the RFO tire. Loose mystery wiring hanging below the trailer. 3 assorted screws and nails in the LR tires (none penetrated thankfully). After all the repairs were done, I noticed the tag light out too. Pin corroded and broke off. A long time ago.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Never mind the incompetent shop that deemed this one good to go. How about the non pre trips for weeks? months? ever? Makes me appreciate my own equipment a lot more after hauling these around. Then when one like this ends up in a ditch or on the hook, everyone thinks about how unfortunate that was. Or wow what an accident. Oddly there is no bad fortune or random accident in play. More like someone isn't doing their job.TruckDuo, Rocks, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this.
