    That $1380/wk is NOT your take home. You should be setting aside about 8% of your gross (not net - that's gross to the truck before fuel and everything)to cover fed/state taxes, or it will sneak up and bite you in the backside come next April.

    On that year of truck, you should also be setting aside 6 to 7 cpm for repairs/replacement/maintenance, etc.

    There are many MANY more things that are too lengthy to mention here.

    Out of $1380 you are probably looking at more like $800 take home.

    We are not being negative here, just trying to help. $1380 sounds like alot to you, but to a seasoned owner/op, it's not much at all.

    Run your numbers dude. Don't become another statistic.

    :biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514: lol.

    Bud, trying to help you be stabil in business by letting you know what you need to set aside isn't being negative it's being nice. If you are so bone headed that you can't take advice from people the you deserve what you get.

    Oh and by the way. Untill I came to this co I'm with now I made that much as a company driver and didn't have to pay for $4k sets of tires and everything else that comes with it. You have no idea how expensive trucking is.... I had to replace my speedometer last month and the dealer wanted $450 just for the part, not installed. a headlight toggle switch for that t600 is $50, how about $80 to $100 hr shop labor rates?

    Wait, you will be the one crying. Seriously good luck, i know your type, bet you cant even change a light bulb...... Im as independent as it gets, my take home is 3 times of yours per week and im still complaining, its not enough when stuff starts to break. I just put a new differential in the truck out on the road 2 trips ago. $4400, do you have that kind of money set aside when stuff breaks? A engine alone is $15,000 minimum to overhaul today.

    glad you served....so few do

    as to the percieved negitivity....most are trying to be realist's

    trucks break down, and are spendy to get repaired
    im in the same boat you are, im not really making enuf to cover anything if i break down, but ill figure out how to make it work, as im sure you can

    noone here wants you to get blindsided from only seein the rosy part of the big picture, and im sure, if prodded enuf even the colder posters will tell you that they want to see you suceed, but not to run in blindly

    in the mean time, while yer waitin for that, relax a bit and take the opionons offered with a grain of salt, after all not one shoe will fit everyone
