Another update....didn't pan out with the lawyer. He seemed pretty clueless about CDL points and after he spoke with the district attorney, the deal was pretty much the same as if he didn't have a lawyer. My husband got rid of his lawyer, went to court, took the charge and a $210 fine.
Big Don Thanks this. -
Don't take this the wrong way but how do you fail to notice missing placards?
-
Well, it is what it is. Too bad about the lawyer. I'm guessing he still charged the $ 350 bucks. Has he had any repercussion with his company over this?

OK, let's post the original post again.
Sure, he should have checked his paperwork and made sure he had the proper placards. He made a mistake, and I'm betting he will never make that mistake again. -
It can be tricky to figure out what is and what isn't hazmat. It's supposed to be clearly marked, but if you are a new driver and not sure what you are looking at it is easy to miss. Since this was handled by 2 previous drivers and they didn't catch it, I'm not going to be too quick to cast stones. My limited experience has been that the shipper not only marks the paperwork, but also includes the proper MSDS paperwork and placards.
