Alot of info there but no info on what u'r maken w/ that Peterbilt, and the costs; gross & net. I understand a truck is about $1,500.00 a mo. and insurance is is about $250 a wk or a mo., can't recall.

    Hello all,
I've been following this thread and have a question.
Had a telephone interview with a Schneider recruiter on Friday, was offered a job and accepted. I have to go to their school in Green Bay and get my CDL. Yes I've heard all the pros and cons on that issue. Financial situation limits my options there. Supposedly starting school Saturday, a week from today.
I had to go get my machine read and the results faxed to the medical department at Schneider for approval.
She called me back and said I was good to go medically. I've yet to hear back from the recruiter with a final ok, so I'm on pins and needles this weekend. So hopefully they don't turn me down at the last minute.
Anyhow, my question is, I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine when I sleep. I'm assuming I'll need to idle the tractor to power said CPAP. Will this affect the fuel bonus criteria? I'd hate to get dinged for something that I can't really pevent.

Well, aren't you special. And I wouldn't brag too much, based on all the QC issues aircraft have had in recent years.

Regarding aircraft mechanic pay, please tell me where? I've got 2 good friends who are aircraft mechs. The work at Charlotte. One makes $12.00 hr, the other $13.50 and both have done it for years. Both used to work for major lines, but now they work for contract maint. companies, like most of the industry. One of them is actually looking at CDL training, as his commute is getting too expensive.

Since you aren't trucking for a living, what with that excellent retirement that allows you to afford that big fancy PeterCar, how about some actual figures? How many miles you running? What are you making after spending almost $4.00 a gallon to fill up those dual, shiney, what?, 250 gal. tanks?

    Inquiring minds want to know

I am adding this to my original comment above. I read a comment that said the insurance is $250.00 a month, not $250.00 a week.

the normal % to get a bonus is 5% however they know cpap users have to idle there truck so the % for bouns is 40% if you have a cpap so you should have no problem with your bonus as far as the recruiters not calling you back, if you got the ok from medical on friday it will be monday before you hear back and if not monday id call your recruiter on tuesday they only work mon-fri so dont worry about the recruiter not calling you, they also call to tell you something in your med history makes you unemployable with schneider so you will hear back from them

Thanks for the info. I thought there was probably a different % for using a CPAP, but you just never know.
Hopefully I'll get the go ahead call from the recruiter today.

To be honest, Id say no to greyhound and just drive up there. They shoved me on a greyhoud bus and I had to travel about 8 hours east, then south, then west to California. Their schedule is just messed up and the busses are packed / poorly maintained.

Well I called the recruiter back on Monday, she got me set up with a DOT physical that same afternoon. I passed that and called her with the info and the doc# for the pee test.
She told me everything looks good so far. Just waiting on the results from that test and the FMV report. I didn't think to ask what an FMV report was. I am assuming that would be a Federal Motor Vehicle report? If so, I don't see any issues there. No tickets, no accidents in over 20 years. She told me to call her Wednesday afternoon if I didn't hear from her today.
According to her, they have a charter bus from the terminal in Gary to Green Bay, which doesn't sound to bad. I'd rather leave the car home for the wife to use if possible. On the other hand I detest riding on a bus.
I did have another question though. With the CPAP, do I have to purchase an inverter and have them install it, or do they supply the inverter? Either way is ok, I just need to know to budget for one if I need to buy it.
