I would like to see one with a flat floor.....hey, must admit, they looked as good as they did to me when I got the 2 new ones back in the day. I thought I was a big shooter.....liked the short, sportscar side shifter in the '85, but they shifted stiffly, and not much better after they put in new and improved cables. It was the first year for it.
I would miss the dog house though, as almost everyday, I would take a nap on it with my stocking feet stuck in the bunk, and about the time I got sore, it was time get going. Enjoyed those naps.....
Also, one heater motor, and I about froze in that truck. The windshield washer fluid tank only held about a half a gallon. Other than that, it had the 8 bag and road fairly well for a cab over. The old trucks use to have 2 heater motors. At least the dash on the '85 did not shake to the point of thinking it was going to come completely loose like the earlier ones. -

a company I drive for had an 80t Scania tag with a planetary drive -
since truck have hydrodrive
hm i am bit confused, i dont know if they count hydrodrive as drive axle, here law does not count this as real axle
also volvo strongest single hypoid axle is 1360 , 13t axle weight 60t gross , this is 90 that is lot of difference even if truck is probably driving only on good roads and half of time empty , but still there is lot of strain , +some offroad+750hp
those people in scandinavia often use kits to lift rear drive axle and separate brake circle to lock rear axle
6x4 2370 axles, 70t is more similar to its weight -
now you can get 78t from hypoid axle , if truck is driving in good conditions can get approval for 10% more , i have already seen those approved for 90t , 6x2 tractor with twin tires 10+10t weight bogie and 6axle low loader =7.5+10+10 + 6x10t
for those with hub reduction you can get 120 -125t approval in good conditions
but have you ever seen 6x2/4 with hub reduction , i have seen so far only 2 in life, few more older , and now german company bender spedition have lot of them 480 and 490hp pulling low loaders and coil trailers, liquid aluminum....
every scania spec sheet i have seen so far never mention this axle available
edit: i have asked friend , he told me it is special orderLast edited: Sep 14, 2014

yes volvo before did not had any larger single hypoid drive axle, now they can haul 60t even with big engines
but i am talking about this , you cant get this normally from scania , tag yes but this not
