I'd liken waiting to address this issue till you see the outcome of your DMV test to complaining about your food to the waiter AFTER YOU'VE EATEN IT! Tell the highest up person at this company as soon as you can that if they don't rectify the situation you will use whatever LEGAL means necessary to recoup your money. I'm not a lawsuit kinda guy but if a company does not provide you the services you paid them for that is FRAUD. Don't go in there all fired up as any intelligible person will know major staffing changes can cause major issues, but if they try and give you the run around and you can afford the time, recoup your money and go elsewhere for training. If they don't right the wrongs and you can't afford the time then tough it out and post the name of the training company so others can avoid the hardships you're going through. Sorry to hear you are having to deal with this, best of luck to you my friend!

how many people are in the class? The school i went to had only 6 people and 2 trucks.
I already had my CDL, just needed a new certificate to get back in the game. So didn't spend much time driving. Spent most of my 3 weeks there helping the other 5 students. Instructor would take 2-3 out on the road and I stayed at the yard and helped the others. Paid a little over 5k to help the school teach the others, But needed that new certificate to get back in truck. Every company I talked all said sorry you been out more then 3 years we can't touch you without a new certificate.
For the most part practice is all that is going to help. Lots of things people can say to help, but practice is the best option.
I found when backing, it was easier to control the trailer when I held the steering wheel on the bottom. If I wanted the trailer to go left, I used my left hand, if right my right hand. Holding the wheel on the bottom, prevented me from steering the wrong way. you can only steer one direction when holding on the bottom. so right was right and left was left.
Don't know how many times I heard "right is left and left is right" when holding from the top. too confusing.CDLROOKIE Thanks this. -
You may need to "self teach" yourself. Get in the truck and just play around in the yard and figure out what you're doing and how things work. Start with straight line backing and turn the steering wheel right then left. If you get the trailer into the "hole" remember what you did to get it there. At the same time talk with the owner of this school about what's going on.

This is why I am glad I took extra time and effort to research, visit and find out about the school I chose before I put any money down.... I was very pleased with my school.... it wasnt the most expensive nor the cheapest. .. it was in the middle.... was a good school... no horror stories here...

Just something to think about for those students who are going into school - pay with a credit card even if you have the money.
Why??
Because if they don't deliver, then tell the credit card company that you didn't get what you paid for and they will backcharge the company.
Yesterday and today I had to go for heavy equipment training at a community college. If I would have known how lax the training was, I would have paid for it at the IOE training place.CDLROOKIE Thanks this. -

I am so sick and tired of hearing that same nonsense repeated over and over again.
I have recruited at schools all over the midwest and the east coast....Ive been in so many schools I cant possibly remember them all, both community and private.
I have seen exactly the opposite of what you (and everyone else here says). First of all, private schools are regulated, they do have oversight, to say they dont is naive. Every state has some form of regulatory agency that oversees post secondary schools. More importantly private schools have to worry about the bottom line. The students are their customers. Unhappy customers mean bad reputation.....that only leads to a business going under.
Community schools are publicly funded with tax payer dollars. They ultimately do no have to worry about satisfied students, their doors stay open no matter what.
In the end, every school is different. Some are better than others, private or community school is no guarantee of anything. -
All of this from a self confessed recruiter. I have set in CDL school classes and listened to recruiters from just about all the bigger companies and some of the horse pucky they tell students is beyond belief. I would not dare to say you are a recruiter of that type since I have never heard your presentation. I will say that you should not lump all college CDL schools into a group with a demagoguery comment. In that regard I can tell you that you are full of horse pucky because I taught at a CDL school at a College and it was an excellent program that even though I'm no longer there I would still recommend.
