Sorry for the incident but what if it had been Roehl or one of the other companies that everyone brags about? What if it had been an independent? Then what? You have one incident and make a stereotype of several thousand drivers? Sure there are problems with Swift drivers but there are problems with drivers for other companies as well. I believe it was a Crete driver that rammed a van load of kids in Florida. I believe it was a driver for a company that begins with HL that rammed a school bus after driving beyond the legal hours that is the focus of one of the most widely used safety training films in the industry.

Swift is probably one of the largest training companies in America. While many (in the past) may have started out on their own without school, that is not possible with todays laws and insurance concerns. Everyone has to start somewhere and many start at Swift. I bet you even had backing problems when you first started out. Maybe you were lucky and never hit anything.

You talk about how badly Swift drivers are treated yet you haven't driven for them. Still you make comments. Many Swift drivers who are treated badly brought some, if not most or all, of that bad treatment on by their work ethic. Yes there are those that fall through the cracks and get a bad rap. Again, with the thousands of drivers that Swift trains, the amount of negative comments on this site and others (since most come from the same individual often with more than one screen name) is a small percentage, and if one had the time to do the research, would probably be on average with most other companies.

The problem is there are a lot of Swift bashers out there who have never driven for them. There is not a problem with someone coming on here or other sites and saying, "Swift sucks" if that individual drove for them and can explain why. But many of the negative comments on sites like this are hearsay comments. Plus, there are Swift drivers who have had positive experiences who get ripped up when they come here to tell their story. And regarding your incident with ONE Swift driver, again I ask my original question, what if it was Crete, Roehl, Schneider or some other company? Would you be leaving Swift alone and ragging on that company for which you never driven instead?

A little Bi-Polar are we?,..decide which way you want it,..and I dont type anything here I worry about, so a Moderator is welcome to inspect what I type. You pop off about Swift but you cant back any of your ranting up, kinda like a few of the other Swift-Haters here. Vio Condios Dos Muleskinner.

I am glad this gives you that warm fuzzy.

Look slick, You must have me mistaken for someone else.

    1. Show me the posts where I have bashed Swift drivers.

    2. I don't have to justify my military service to anyone, because if you were truely in the military you would never ask me to.

    3. If you are going to go from thread to thread attacking anyone that has a problem with Swift, then you are going to be a busy boy.

    4. Above is a crazy rant. That is quite the far-fetched assumtion you make about me. Not true of course.

    5. When I first retired from the military I got a job as a warehouse supervisor. The worst drivers that came to the warehouse was the Swift drivers. They couldn't back into the doors. Can I get an Amen. Also, I had a "mentor" knock a door off his trailer with a trainee watching him. Hmm. I wonder why Swift drivers can't back up properly.

    6. If you truely have been driving for 10 years, WHAT ARE YOU DOING AT SWIFT??? It would explain the handle "Ohnoo".

    7. If you don't drive for Swift then get off my back. You don't have a dog in the fight.

    8. If you did see my post in March about going to Swift orientation, you will see how I view the thought of going to Swift orientation in the first place. No dishonesty here.

    9. What is with this "cool kid" hang-up you have?

    10. Get a life!!!:biggrin_25513:

In all fairness vols, 3-4 weeks ago met a guy who just came off the road with Swift after 15 years. For the record, he had nothing bad to say about them.

That's great. I'm glad Swift worked for him. Swift drivers have the reputations they have. I am a newbie but I'm not an idiot, nor am I blind. I don't put down people to make myself look better, but I do have an opinion based on fact.

Facts as you see or interpret them but hundreds, if not thousands of Swift drivers are satisfied with their jobs and are safe drivers. If they were all as unsafe as people here and on the CB say, their SafeStat scores would be much worse than they are.

I hope its not true I hope Swift stays the way it is I dont want them going out of buisness because then all their ###### drivers will be contaminating all the other good companys by getting jobs and driving for them

I don't do much sleeping with these guys anymore. It is a different sort coming into the industry these days. Used to be they were young guys from the country that were familiar with operating big stuff and already familiar with backing trailers and such. Now most of the guys are former unionized factory workers that are pissed off at the world. Trying to get these folks to understand the job isn't nine to five with regular breaks of a defined duration is a struggle. Most have never had to drive using such fangled contraptions like mirrors. I end up hoping they own a boat or a camper just so they have a vague idea how to back a trailer. My favorite was the guy that "Used a U-haul once" so he figured he'd be fine. I can say I am the first guy in my extended family to suffer any hair loss.

Yeah but then they would instantly become perfect drivers. They would be able to back, change lanes, and do everything other truckers do. After all, they would no longer be Swift drivers and we know that Swift drivers are the ONLY bad drivers on the road.
