Oy, the days just seem to get longer and longer as the countdown progresses, one week to go...current bossman is pissed that I'm leaving & is doing his best to make life difficult. Childish, really.

Anyhow, can't wait to join the ranks & earn my stripes.

They got back with me within a week, but I turned in my application at the terminal. Along with my application I submitted my BMV report and all of my Schedule C paperwork from when I was self employed. The office lady seemed pretty impressed that I presented all of this & I'd like to think it helped speed up the process but I dunno...could be dumb luck.

I'd say call em & keep calling until they give you an interview or tell you to get lost, squeaky wheel gets the grease.

They did push back my start date to the 29th for some reason which really sucks but my current job is going to let me stick around for another week. At least I won't be twiddling my thumbs all week.

I've heard applying on the website is a cluster...your best bet is to print an app and turn it in to your desired terminal, although I know that's not exactly feasible for someone who lives hundreds of miles from a terminal. I just got lucky & live a mile down the road from one.

Passed my road test with flying colors and I'm starting training on Monday. Man, them tractors are long, it wouldn't be hard to get yourself into trouble. You gotta start turning A LOT sooner than normal and the trailers swing fast when backing. I feel like I caught on pretty quick & the guy that gave me the road test was impressed, but it's still far too soon to be ####y.

Congrats on passing. One word to the wise. ####y in this business can bite you in the Heinaman real quick. Take it slow.

Perhaps I could have chosen my words a little better, I was trying to make a joke with the ####y comment...FAIL.

My point was I handled the truck very well and felt very comfortable behind the wheel but now it's time for the hard part...loading, unloading, securement and probably a slew of other things that I have no clue about yet.

I recognize that ####iness can get a guy into trouble real quick in carhauling and I will heed your advice, good sir. I will be asking a ton of questions and I am very willing and eager to learn.

    Thanks for the congrats.

When I read your comment I thought that you were more confident in your driving ability than you were being ####y. Many people mistake confident people as being ####y, I don't since I am one of those "confident" people. You have to have a great deal of confidence in yourself to eventually become a good carhauler. If you ever loose your confidence in yourself and your abilities it will not be easy to succeed in this profession. Good luck in your training and when your instructor asks for a volunteer to back that Chevy pickup on that rig, always be the first in line. They will notice your willingness to learn and you want to get as much experience during your training that you can possibly get. And the best piece of advise I can give you is to take your time! Don't worry about the money as it will come with time. If you rush and tear stuff up you won't be a carhauler for very long.

    SLANT6 Thanks this.
