Schneider no longer has a CDL school, they do reimburse you up to $6,000 for many private CDL schools though. The page at http://schneiderjobs.com/company-drivers/driving-school-programs will let you search for schools in your state that they accept.
I would go with a company that will reimburse you for a private school (most companies that take new drivers will) over one that has their own school as you are kind of under the thumb of that company for a year if you go to their school.
Start by making a list of the companies that seem best to you and then look into if they offer CDL reimbursement, almost all will. -
I went through the Schneider Training Academy 10 years ago. It was the best training out there. There were people who had already been driving for 6 months that they made go through the school. Everyone of them were going on about how much the other carriers did not teach them. They only train those who already have a CDL already now.
I would go with Milan Express. It is one of the cheapest, it is only 3 weeks, and then you go out with a trainer for 4-6 weeks depending on how you do. Then you are off every weekend and get paid .36 CPM (I believe) and get anywhere from 2300-2700 miles a week. -
Things are going great for me! Unfortunately he is not currently eligible for Carter Express. They are a little more strict in the hiring process than other companies

I think Celadon would be one of the best bets since he would be instate so he doesn't have to go through any of the transferring license stuff. Celadon will also pay for any of the endorsements that you test out on with the exception of passenger (for obvious reasons). They also never take anything out of your paycheck once you are out on the road as a driver.
I am currently at the school for Celadon so I can answer any questions you might have -
thanks everyone for the feedback so far. i'm really hoping we get him on somewhere. we've been applying and several companies have been willing to give him a try - supposedly. we are going to apply to more yet so once he starts the interviewing process and background checks etc he has many options.

What makes them more strict ? I am still thinking of going there and Sage. didn't realize they were strict. Was there something wrong with his past that kept him from going there.
Also when I started thinking about becoming a truck driver and doing research I thought one thing that I wanted in my truck for sure would be an APU. I know Carter Express don't have an APU in their trucks does that cause a problem for you ?
Do you think it would be better or since you are new and never had one maybe don't matter. -
Yes my bros past isnt the greatest. And no need for an apu cause we all just idle. They give an idle bonus but doesnt justify 10k for an apu in my opinion.dennisroc Thanks this.

Are you on your own now or still training ? Where all have you been driving too and how is your pay and home time.
Thanks -

dennisroc Thanks this.
