If money is tight, then save it for a backup plan and attend a trucking company CDL school.
Celadon has one in Indianapolis.
You can run teams with many companies that also offer CDL training.
Southern Refrigerated Transport runs coast-to-coast and has school. No money needed; they pay for hotel room and some meals and school.
One of the good deals out there for teams is Old Dominion & they have a terminal in Indy. You would have to attend private or community college CDL school out of your own pocket though. They're about the best team company out there for pay. Ask a recruiter which school they recommend.TracyN Thanks this. -
I personally think the best way is to go with a large carrier that offers schooling to you. Schneider, Prime, Conway...just to name a few. Check a lot of them out by looking at their website. There are specific forums on here dedicated to individual companies and you can get a lot of information from their drivers. We went through Schneiders school back in 2007 and it was excellent. We also worked for Prime and they are a great company. I have head good things about Conway also. I would suggest going with one of those companies for a year OTR and after that, you will have more options. Best of luck to you!

One issue you may have is your age. Many companies, due to insurance regs won't hire anyone younger than 23. A few are 26. Make sure they don't overlook that before you talk to them long enough to get your hopes up.
